This is an introduction to La Tiny House Company, a tiny house builder in France.

They have built fifteen homes so far. One features a special shape – almost reminiscent of Noah’s ark, with curved roof lines and wooden clapboards. Another looks like a typical gable roof cabin with a bright turquoise door. One of their other tiny house builds features pine siding and a metal roof with dormers for the loft space. And yet another reminds you of the prairie wagons of the wild West, with a curved canopy-style roof.

  1. I love the fact that some people have realized that we all do not need huge houses. The more builders the merrier. We don’t need to use up all our precious materials on this planet earth. Mars isn’t a real option for most so we need to conserve where we can and a good place to start is only building what you actually need. Just build me one without an upstairs bedroom please.

    1. Mars isn’t an option for anyone! Why, haven’t you heard? There ain’t no atmosphere there… besides, no neighbours, no food, no animals or plants. Nope… earth is the ONLY place to be.

      1. All I want is a tiny home on our planet Earth. I want to build it and make it as green as possible to show my 5 year old grandson what is possible and that I care about his and all the children’s future here. And when I show him the pictures at night when I read to him (which is about tiny houses a lot he wants his own loft) and I take the time to explain why these are such a good idea.

  2. At the risk of offending a whole bunch of Europeans… this is fairly typical of the French AND the Italians. All style, no substance. Hey it ain’t practical but it looks ooo la la.

Unlike that garage conversion in, I think, Bordeaux, now that was sheer brilliance. Practical. Stylish. Off the wall even. But sheer brilliance in that it bloody well worked!!!

    1. “All style, no substance”?? What does that mean? If you click on the links provided, you will discover that these experienced carpenters are building environmentally-friendly, all-wood homes that also happen to be affordable. Is it their mission you dislike? Or their design style?

La Tiny House has as much to offer as any other company and it is grossly unfair to diss their work. Here is my challenge: design and build your own tiny house and submit it here. Then I can critique your work, but I promise to be very specific about what I like and what I dislike and why. And, of course I won’t put down everyone in your country if I don’t like something.

      1. “All style, no substance”?? What does that mean?

The very next sentence tells you. Or did you get your knickers in a twist over the comment?
