I just ran into these tiny house folks in Sydney, Australia I thought you might want to know about.

They started planning their project in January of 2013 and began building in June 2013 (almost a year ago as I write this). And their tiny house is only costing them about $15,000 which they can own outright and take wherever they’d like.

In this video IKEA interior designer Ray shows you a 430 square feet (40 square meters) that sleeps six people using IKEA furniture.

The space is very open. Three sets of bunk beds surround the dining table which is used for eating and working.

A corner of the tiny home is used as a music and reading area. And there’s a large kitchen with open storage and lots of vertical storage throughout the entire home.

I had to show you this 1978 8′ Sunline micro travel trailer that’s for sale on Craigslist right now (SOLD).

It’s very similar to a teardrop camper since it’s ultra small and light weight.

The entire thing weighs only like 800 lbs. so you might even be able to tow it with some motorcycles!

And you’ll be surprised at how much you are able to fit into this micro camper:

His name is Gregory Kloehn, an artist in Oakland, California who is building micro houses for homeless people in his area.

In the past, I’ve featured one of Kloehn’s earlier creations which were a micro house he built out of a garbage container.

Instead of trying to create art so that rich people will buy it from him now he’s decided to build tiny homes directly for those who need them most.

He dumpster dives until he has enough materials to build a one-room shelter for a homeless person.

Expandable Tiny Houses with Pop Outs is a guest post by Jay Oistead

This is Jay with Ragsdale Homes and I wanted to share with you some of our current tiny house projects we’re working on.

Directly below is a sneak preview of our new Sunday House which is a transforming tiny home because it has pop outs.

We designed it small so that we can transport it cross country to attend workshops, conventions, and other events.

Once the home is on site and expanded it offers 216 sq. ft. of living space while the perimeter dimensions are only 8’x10′ while traveling.

We are developing a patent pending ‘Room Roll Outs’ so parts of the home can expand and increase livable square footage once on site.

This YMCA in London has began launching (approved!) affordable shipping container housing (MyPads) in London.

The shipping container micro housing units are so small that they easily fit in parking lots and campuses. And they’re stackable too.

This is already giving two people a chance to live affordably without having to stress about money so much while working and getting their education.

And the YMCA is already planning on deploying several more units as soon as possible to meet the demand of over 100 (and growing) other people in the area on a list wanting to live in one too.

According to the video you can watch below they cost just over $30k each.
