This Cargo Trailer Converted to Homey, Cozy, Off-Grid RV is a guest post by Elizabeth Kelch
One trend in the tiny living movement is converted cargo trailers. The advantages to this are;
- they’re lighter weight,
- more easily mobile,
- and can often be used for free by ‘stealth camping’.
I recently got the guts to take the leap and I bought a 7×12 insulated cargo trailer and converted it to an off-grid micro RV. My tiny RV is designed for one person, maybe a couple, because I wanted to keep it very simple and lightweight but there’s no reason I couldn’t apply the same principles to an 8×20 trailer.

This is the story of an anonymous reader who turned his Toyota Echo car into a stealthy micro camper. I suppose you could even call it a tiny motor camper. Have you ever thought of converting your car into a stealthy car camper so you can easily sleep in it while traveling without being noticed??
So you could get to places and travel farther without having to pay for hotels and such every night. Or maybe even camping out of State Parks, campgrounds, and such. ⛺️ So I wanted to show you this.?

Man Turns his Toyota Car into Micro Motorcamper for Stealthy Car Camping
Of course, it’s considerably smaller than your average tiny house so I’m not sure if you’re still with me but even if you’re not…
Isn’t it fascinating what can be done to make an economy size car a comfortable place to camp out for the night if you ever really needed to?
I hope you don’t ever have to, but if you do, or you end up just wanting to, here’s a really good way to get by like this.
Because who would guess this unassuming Toyota Echo would be able to sleep 2 people (even if a little too cozily)?
I thought you might be kind of awed by the simplicity of this car conversion so if you would please read the rest of the story and see the tour this tiny little motor camper car conversion below:

I’m always on the lookout for space-saving furniture for tiny homes. In this post, I’m excited to show you the Quad Micro Bar by Joe Warren. If you’ve been looking for a dining table solution that doesn’t take up that much room…
Whether you are living in a tiny house, micro apartment, or any other small space. It’s a really cool solution in my opinion because it doubles as a stand-up table and bar stool table. And the stools are really easy to put away. Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments.

How to be Mortgage-free Guest Post by Hari Berzins – Original story appeared at Tiny House Blog
During the big snow storm last week, Karl and I walked up the hill from our tiny house to our newly dried-in (Woohoo!) ‘big’ house to watch the falling snow.
The snow in the woods was magical and the view in all directions was spectacular.
I looked up at the rafters and there was no snow falling in the house!
We were dry.
After more than a year of watching rain and snowfall on our house, this was big.
I smiled at Karl. “How does it feel to go into this snow storm with a finished roof on the house?”
He took a deep breath. “You have no idea.”
Here’s How You, Too, Can Build a Mortgage-free Homestead
That was a nice moment.
We’ve come so far, and it’s so important to take time to celebrate all of the milestones along the way.
I encourage you to read our story below and take a tour of the tiny house that started it all for us…

This restored 1957 Spartan ‘Executive Mansion’ travel trailer is up for auction on eBay right now. (SOLD: Post taken down)
It’s 8′ wide by 50′ long so it’s approximately 400 square feet of space inside with no sleeping lofts.
Finding this trailer really opened my eyes to what else is possible with tiny houses on trailers.
According to the owner/seller on eBay, “After WWII Tulsa Oklahoma’s Spartan Aircraft company switched its production of aircraft to travel trailers, including this spacious and ever so rare park model, the 50′ Executive Mansion.”
It’s technically a park model because it has no holding tanks so it’s designed to be used at a campground, RV park/community, or on your own land.

This question comes from Kathy J. D. who wants to know about tiny houses for cold climates.
So if you’re interested in designing and building a tiny home for somewhere really cold…
This page is going to give you a good idea on how you’d be able to do that with some basic design and build tips.
Question: Do Tiny Houses for Cold Climates Exist?
And…
Is it Even Possible to Live Tiny in Harsh Cold Winters?
From: Kathy J. D. (thanks Kathy!)
“Hi, I enjoy your postings. I want to have a tiny house someday on land in northern Michigan. I’ve noticed that most of the tiny houses featured are in the south or the Pacific northwest, milder climates than we have here. I was wondering if you’ve come across anybody who lives in a tiny house in a harsh winter climate and how they heat their house, especially if they use a small electric space heater, if that’s possible, and how much that costs. I also wonder if tiny houses would be designed differently for long cold winters, like not so many big windows and skylights or a double door entryway so all the cold doesn’t get in every time you open the door, things like that.”
Kathy thank you so much! This is a great question and you are not the only person who has wondered the same thing.
So continue reading because I’m going to show you the pros and cons of living tiny in the cold.

If you’ve been wondering how much does it cost to build a tiny house you’re in the right place.
Designing and building your own tiny house is a great way to create a mortgage-free lifestyle fast.
So it’s no wonder that you’d be interested… But the question is, “how much?”
And since I receive lots of questions every day on tiny housing via email, Facebook and Twitter…
I decided I’d start answering them in public so we can all benefit.
And to encourage discussion (and connections) in the comments below.

Since I’ve been getting several questions from readers related to families and tiny houses…
I wanted to share my most recent thoughts on the idea of- let’s say- a family of 5 moving into a tiny home.
If you’re here it’s likely that you’re either thinking about moving your family into a tiny home…
Or you might know somebody who has that ‘crazy’ idea.
Either way, I’m here to give you what I think are my most honest and helpful thoughts without the b.s.
I’ve been researching tiny living since 2009 and I care about every single one of you so I’d like to save you as much sweat, blood, and tears as possible.
Tiny houses on wheels, in my opinion, are not a great long-term solution for the majority of families with children.
And here’s why…

In this post, you’re going to see how this man created an automated micro-farming solution where anyone can grow their own food.
If you’re a busy person or are just limited on space and still want to enjoy the benefits of gardening this might be something you’ll like, right?
Imagine having a system in place that automatically waters and fertilizes your plants? And it’s all solar-powered too.
Best of all it probably fits in your terrace, backyard, or somewhere near your tiny house, cabin, or cottage. And it’s completely portable.
But one of the most fascinating features is that it’s very high tech.
You can check on your farm right from your smartphone or tablet using their software.
Update: Help fund this project on Kickstarter!
