This is the story of Kristie Wolfe’s second tiny house. She started by building her own 96-square-foot tiny home on wheels in Idaho. She built that home for only $5,000 and it gave her a foundation to be able to travel, pursue her interests, and even buy her own land in Hawaii to build her SECOND tiny home!

She and her mom actually built it together and it’s super awesome. In fact, they’ve turned it into a vacation rental that you can book on Airbnb while they’re not there enjoying it themselves. She bought the land for $8,000 sight unseen and proceeded to build the cabin for another $11,000 in costs. Not bad, right?

This is a yurt-like micro cabin with a studio layout in the Portland, Oregon area. It’s really more like a Thoreau-cabin because it’s basically a bedroom with a desk. In other words, there’s no kitchen and bath but if you stay here you do get access to a private bathroom in the main house.

Plus you can also use the kitchen in the main house but you have to share it with the owners (and it’s a vegan only kitchen). So take a look at it below and let me know what you think. I don’t think it would be very hard to do an add-on kitchen and bath. You could also just use another structure for that and connect it all via deck.

When Jeff Loper wanted to build a second home in Colorado he realized it would be more out of reach than originally anticipated. Then he visited a friend’s farm where they had built a 300 sq. ft. tiny cabin on the property.

This inspired him to look at small houses which led him to discover tiny houses on wheels on the Internet. With years of carpentry experience, he decided that not only would he build a tiny house for himself, but he would build a company to serve others with the same goal in mind.

And that, in short, is how Valley View Tiny House Company was born. Right now I’d like to show you The Shenandoah 160 sq. ft. tiny house on wheels that Jeff and his team have built. Please enjoy, talk about it in the comments, and re-share if you want to below.

When Sam Jacquette was paying $1100 a month in rent and working at a job that he didn’t enjoy just to pay his bills he decided he would make some changes.

He set a 2014 New Year’s resolution to stop doing things he didn’t enjoy doing and to start doing everything he wanted to do. And making this 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia van his home on wheels would be the first step.

After buying it, he got rid of his apartment, quit his job, and has been living in it and focusing on his New Year’s resolution. To do so, he’s decided to only keep his “top 5 favorites” of just about all of his possessions. His wardrobe, for example, is very minimal.

As for work goes, now he’s doing something more in line with his passion since he’s able to afford to make the decision after the drastic downsize. He now works for Hofmann Architecture helping to restore Airstream travel trailers. And Sam’s goal is to upgrade into an Airstream in the near future.

Tim Seggerman, an architect and builder, found this abandoned Brooklyn home in 1987 when it was put up for auction and ended at a price of $140,000.

It had been left abandoned for 20 years and was in complete shambles. But since he is a carpenter and builder he knew he could fix it.

To buy it he needed to put 10% down ($14,000) which was his entire life savings at the time. Boldly, he went for it anyway. From 1987 until today the house has made quite the comeback thanks to Tim’s ingenuity.

One of the interesting things to learn from Seggerman and his Brooklyn house project is how his home has evolved over the years just as he has. His house is always changing with him according to his needs.

Even though this isn’t a tiny house, I believe you’ll enjoy and learn a lot from this project (and video) below.

In this post I wanted to share the story of how this young couple left their apartment life and built their own 128 sq. ft. tiny home on wheels that’s 100% mortgage-free.

When they started, they really didn’t know much about building a house. They just learned and adapted as they went. And they did it.

Now, after much hard work and sweat, they have the simple lifestyle that they once only dreamed of. A debt-free life that’s sustainable. And they did it all themselves. Now that’s something to be proud of, isn’t it?

Please enjoy, talk about this inspiring story in the comments, and re-share it down below if you’d like to. Thank you.

Right now I’m sharing how this woman turned her Honda Element vehicle into a Micro RV so she can go on a two month cross country trip throughout the United States and Canada.

Her name is Michelle Sevigny and she even found her dog, Lucy, in Nova Scotia while on the trip. In the video below you’ll get to see exactly how she set up her Honda Element and her little secrets learned and shared while camping and traveling with it.

Before she embarked on this adventure she considered an RV, VW Westfalia, and a travel trailer. But RVs were so expensive, the Westfalia’s were also expensive to maintain/repair, and hauling a travel trailer was just kind of out of the question. Plus, the cost of gas.

So her solution was to create a Tiny RV out of a 2005 Honda Element instead. And she did just that. It’s great on gas, easy to drive around in, and only a few minor modifications were required to make it all work.

She even works out of the van on her location independent business, Dogsafe Canine First Aid (www.dogsafe.ca). And she plans on continuing to save money to build her own tiny house on the west coast of Canada (British Columbia) soon.

This waterfront tiny cabin for sale is on a waterfront lot in Belfair, Washington with 1.77 acres included.

It’s definitely not in move-in ready condition so it needs some work which could be fun.

The structure as of now sits on post and blocks right at the shoreline of the saltwater canal.

It offers amazing views and the water is filled with clams and oysters. Can be a great opportunity to renovate this into an amazing little cabin.

Our big thanks to Joceile Moore for sharing this lovely property and tiny shelter with us!
