Looking to get into van life, but not quite into converting a van yourself? No worries, that’s why there are van conversions already for sale, and that’s also why there are companies completely dedicated to converting vans for people like you, completely custom, too.

But you might also find, that for some people (maybe you?) a van conversion project wouldn’t be all that difficult, and it could potentially save you quite a lot of money to build it out yourself, as you’ll soon see when you look at prices for these vans, especially amidst the 2020’s when more people than ever are more likely looking into such vehicles so that they can travel in their own space.

So just like we have a list of tiny house builders, we thought it was appropriate to start and build a list of van conversion companies. So here it is! We’ve also included a few companies that specialize in accessories and components for DIYers as well as professional van builders, as well as a few classified ads websites that specialize in the resale of such vehicles (van conversions). But for the most part, what you’ll find down here is a large list of van builders. Is there someone out there that we missed that you think should have made it to this list? Not to worry friend, you can send me a little note about it at the bottom of this page. 🙂

There are few things as quaint and cozy as stone, and that proves true in this tiny stone cottage affixed to the Pony Barn Bar & Restaurant on a 120-acre heritage breed farm.

The little vacation spot features a studio-style set up, with a queen bed on one side, and a kitchenette with pasture views on the other. Down a small hallway there’s a wet bathroom and linen closet.

While it’s perfect in any season, something tells me this spot in West Sand Lake, New York is particularly magical when the snow falls! You can book your stay at Airbnb.

This cabin is a great example of *not* painting natural wood, and yet still getting a light airy feel with the white furniture and accents! I’m partial to seeing wood grain, so this looks especially inviting.

While not exactly tiny, this smaller vacation rental offers plenty of ideas for little spaces, and it’s impeccably decorated. There are three bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and two bathrooms (one with a tub/shower and one with a shower). The kitchen has all you need to cook and serve a meal.

You can book your stay in this gem in the Poconos over at Airbnb.

Natalie and Lucas have lived in tents as wilderness guides, rented small spaces and cabins, and even lived in a 29-foot sailboat while building their tiny house! Now they’re proud owners of their off-grid THOW, which they’ve lived in for 4 years.

First they parked in Northern Wisconsin on a friend’s land, and now they rent from a couple in Oregon they met via Facebook. Their home doesn’t have running water, but they do have a great solar system set up for electricity.

Many of the materials in their home were reclaimed from places that have significance to the couple, and all in all they spent about $30,000 on their tiny home. We got to do an interview with Natalie (@nataliejacksonwellness on Instagram) which you can read after the photo tour of their beautiful home.

There are so many options out there for living with a smaller footprint, and park models like this one give you just under 400 square feet, and the newer ones look the part!

This one is set up in Broken Bow, Oklahoma as a vacation rental (what most park models were originally designed for), but the spacious kitchen and storage in the bedroom make it something you could likely enjoy year-round in the right climate.

With both a front and back porch, you have room for both a grill and a hot tub! You can book your stay over at Airbnb.

Conventional design wisdom claims you can’t use dark colors in small spaces, but this tiny house built in Germany by Tiny House Manufaktur shows there’s an exception to every rule.

Paired with a light, natural wood, the black cabinets, steps, and accent walls in this THOW not only work but provide a modern, luxurious aesthetic. There’s an abundance of hidden storage in this home, with tons under the stairs, and an additional storage/sleeping loft over the living area.

To me, it looks like that couch could easily become another guest bed, and the bathroom includes a flush toilet and heated towel rack (one of Europe’s best inventions, in my humble opinion). You can get in touch with the builder here.

This is a gorgeous Cedar Façade THOW from Tiny House Manufaktur in Germany. The simple design features a large glass door that takes you into the living area, a shed-style roof, and gorgeous wooden exterior.

Inside the clean lines continue, with a spacious living area complete with an L-shaped storage couch and a cozy wood-burning stove. The storage staircase leads up to the sleeping loft, and underneath is the compact kitchen and bathroom.

The bathroom has lots of storage cubbies to help organize toiletries, and the kitchen has an open-faced pantry. To contact the builder with questions or to order your own, click here.

This has to be one of the most ornate van conversions I’ve ever seen, with lovely carved woodwork that gives it a mythical forest feel.

There’s a three-seater couch that folds into the main bed, an itty bitty kitchen with a propane cooktop, and even a stow-away toilet that doubles as a seat when not “in use.”

You’ll find plenty of built-in and under-bed storage in this campervan, which is for sale in the UK for 12,000 GBP (or ~ $15,800). You can contact the seller via QuirkyCamper here.

“I had a quiver of cuss words I hadn’t used in awhile, so I got myself a Westy.”

Simon had travelled around Europe surfing with his buddies in a VW van when he was younger, and that nostalgia got him into a Vanagon restoration project for weekend travels and camping getaways. This vintage update of a 40-year-old vehicle brings the Westy back to it’s original glory, with some great upgrades such as a flatscreen TV, GPS, and cupholders.

It wasn’t exactly a cheap endeavor (he spent $7.5k on the van itself, and another $15k renovating it), but it brings him joy and he’s constantly stopped by others on the road with memories of the VW van days. Watch his video tour below!
