This Snoozy-Owl Pod has a shepherd’s hut-style roof, but sits on skids in the backyard of a quaint English B&B. It’s nearly-round glass door welcomes you into the bright and airy interior.

This quaint cottage in the Yorkshire Dales surrounded by stunning English gardens is just the place for inspiration on converting your shed into a tiny dwelling!
David took his shed, added heated floors, running water, and a bathroom, and created a perfect secluded guest room with everything you need for a weekend stay. There are even tiny skylights to add some extra sunshine. He also painted the inside a lovely sage green (instead of the standard white/cream), which makes the place particularly cozy.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many people found themselves suddenly jobless, trying to figure out what to do in the midst of so much chaos. For Tay & McKay — a couple who had moved to Hawaii as destination wedding photographers/videographers — all of their work dried up in a couple of minutes. But instead of getting discouraged, they teamed up with some friends/family members and built a gorgeous luxury tiny house!
Now the couple is headed back to the mainland to start building tiny homes out of Dallas, Texas! But if you want the plans for this build, they’re selling them on their website here.

Ashlee is a school teacher in Western Australia who traveled the country in her THOW built by Tiny Homes Perth for a whole year! After completing her travels, she settled on a family farm, got back to teaching, and continued to live tiny in her amazing house on wheels.
We got a chance to interview Ashlee (@girlinatinyhouse) about her tiny lifestyle. While she misses her wardrobe space from time to time, she’s thankful for the financial freedom that a tiny home has brought her.

Meet Jessy and her 1978 Dodge Commander, lovingly named “Mander.” She and Mander (along with her cat) have been on the road now for three wonderful years of travelling around the country!
She’s become her own mechanic for nearly everything her renovated campervan has needed in order to save money — and she only spent $1,900 when she bought the camper with 54,000 miles on it. She just recently updated the interior again, and it’s bright and modern with its popular grey and white hues.
The biggest interior upgrade was her bathroom, which now features a separate shower stall and area for her Nature’s Head composting toilet. The build is beautiful, and Jessy’s story is inspirational! She even wrote a book on how to get into vanlife, which you can buy here.

Liam is a 21-year-old photographer and surfer (@liamconradphoto) living in Santa Barbara, California. He bought this 1988 Ford Econoline that was a handicap transport vehicle, and transformed it into an awesome camper van to make surfing that much easier!
Now he can camp out at the beach and get the early morning waves! His van includes an outdoor shower, sink, 12 v fridge and a large bed with garage storage underneath.
He did a video tour of his van build-out, which you can watch at the end of the post! Enjoy.

Kenny Foust submitted the first design to Simple Solar Homesteading’s awesome “Off-Grid Houses on the Move” Contest, which runs now through October. If you have an off-grid portable housing design (or actual structure!) you’d like to submit, you can see the rules for the contest here. Winners get prizes so it’s worth a try!
He submitted pictures of a real 24-long house-on-wheels that he built on a 1976 Doge dualie. It’s 7.5 feet wide, and 9.5 feet tall. Inside the basic structure has a hot water heater and 20 gallon tank for showers, as well as a DIY composting toilet. The rest of the home runs on solar power with a dorm fridge, microwave, induction cooktop and coffee maker. It even has a fold up back deck! Cool.

In Wellsville, Utah sits a little hobby farm with gardens, sheep, chickens, pigs, and an orchard. Back among the young trees is this little off-grid Grove Cottage, which you can rent on Airbnb!
It has a covered porch with an idyllic porch swing, and inside you’ll find sleeping for up to 6 between a King-sized bed, queen sleeper sofa, and loft for kids. Keep warm with the wood stove, or roast s’mores over the fire outside. There’s no kitchen or indoor plumbing, but you’ll find a composting toilet, outdoor shower and washing station on the side of the house.
