You can’t use a generator in an enclosed area.
The property is unoccupied and for sale. I believe the generator was stored for safekeeping
That is Andrew’s homestead. He sold it and it looks like it’s for sale again.
Hi, I live in Pennsylvania how can I find out if there are any tiny house communities here. Also does PA even allow Tiny Houses. It is my dream to build a tiny house or buy one but I have family here and don’t want to leave PA.
Thank you
I thought the whole purpose of tiny homes were to make housing more affordable. The price for this is no different than a conventional listing! Most loans won’t even accept off grid properties, so people have to come up with all that money in cash. What a travesty!
@Nicole C. Scott – Travesty? No, that’s just isn’t how it works, affordable just doesn’t mean they will adjust it to fit your budget regardless of what it actually cost, only that it’s a good price for what it does provide…
Understand, tiny houses are not a magic solution that changes costs. It’s only a means to help control and prioritize what you are paying for to reduce it to just the cost of what you want to have included, and by how you choose to do it, but it otherwise can’t change the costs and everything included will still be part of the final total costs…
So you have to have realistic expectations on costs and understand what’s affordable is just relative and not a set price range, the choices you make will always matter to what costs you will be dealing with and different choices will result in different costs…
This is a 5.44 acre parcel of land with 9 structures on it, which includes a professionally built tiny home, 3 detached bedrooms, a central communal kitchen/bathroom, and several utility buildings. Along with quite a few additional details than you’d normally get with most properties, let alone a tiny house in an area where the median housing prices is $592.5K for comparison of where it actually stands in the market it’s in…
While there are other tiny house properties in the area that include less and thus are listed at lower prices…
So details always matter and the costs will be determined by what’s included, location, and how you choose to do it… There will always be trade offs and compromises to consider with every choice. All of which also means regardless of whether it involves a tiny house or not, always shop around and don’t just expect to be offered the price you want regardless of the actual details…
Btw, while off-grid properties don’t qualify for traditional mortgages, there are financing options available. They just may charge a higher interest rate and additional fees as insurance to cover risk in case you default. So they can grid-tie the property to make it easier to sell… Some property owners may also offer owner financing. So you can basically work out a deal with the previous owner… And there are other types of loans you can look into for additional options…
Off-grid properties are also not the only option for properties that include tiny houses, which is another reason to shop around as part of finding what’s affordable is understanding what you’re actually paying for… Location being another factor that can significantly effect the cost of the property, for example, and the actual house can be only one of many factors effecting the final total price of a given property…
