It all started when the children of an aerospace engineer wanted a treehouse: Their dad thought a shed was just too basic, and instead he created what would later become the first iteration of the “Conker.” These Sci-Fi Conkers are spherical homes (unless you get the wheelchair-accessible “Igloo” version) that feature sustainable materials and a eco-friendly footprint.

You can click multiple Conkers together to fit your needs or growing family, or you can use a single pod as a guest house, spare room, or office. They even sell Baby Conkers that act as treehouses for little ones. What do you think?

When ADUs became legal in a small Central Kentucky town, Janet and her son/daughter-in-law saw a great opportunity! The son and daughter-in-law own the land and larger home, and Janet lives nearby with her grandkids in a backyard cottage. It’s 320 sq. ft. with no wheels and was built by a local traditional builder.

Minus the deck her son built later, the cost for the home came in at $60,000. She furnished it with compact IKEA furniture with hidden storage and has a garden shed as well.

With thousands moving to the area and the Tesla giga-factory as an example hiring 20,000 people, communities like this are desperately needed in this area not to mention other areas with housing shortages and affordability issues too. What do you think of this housing concept?

This little cottage in Lee, England is popular with walkers and surfers taking advantage of all nature has to offer nearby. While the exterior might blend into the natural surroundings, inside the owners chose a bright and bold color palette.

There’s a bathroom in a separate building, and you can cook on the veranda with a provided camp stove and all kinds of cooking utensils. Then it’s time to enjoy a walk or drink some coffee and take in the views from the porch.

Ian started living in his 1978 Hedonist Yatch, “BLOWN AWAY” back in 2000. He spent his free time making the boat livable, completely reconstructing the hull and repainting the lime-green exterior. His background in marine engineering definitely helped!

About 5 years ago he met Natalie, who now lives in the sailboat with him, and the couple enjoy their off-grid sailboat life, staying at anchor and sailing to avoid pricey marina fees. They choose to sleep in the saloon so they can fall asleep to starry-night views. Could you live on the water?

Composer Freddie Hodkin lives in  a beautiful tiny house built by North East Log Cabin, called the “Camping Snug Star Pod.” Set up in a “plus sign” shape, each arched wing functions as either the kitchen, living room, bathroom or bedroom. He has his snug pod situated on beautiful land with views of the Cornish valley (UK).

I included some pictures below of the “for sale” units from the builder, and you can enjoy Freddie’s video tour with his own original music at the end. Freddie said he welcomes questions on his YouTube channel! As always, let us know what you think.
