A double-decker coach bus turned into a full-time home for a family of 8—now that’s something you don’t see every day. This dad was tired of missing out on his kids’ childhoods chasing money to pay for the “good life.” After a family vacation to Utah, he and his wife decided to take his software work remotely and find a way to travel full-time.
So they bought a double-decker coach bus and with the help of a professional company turned it into an incredible home complete with 6 bunk beds, a convertible bed/bedroom for mom and dad, two bathrooms, one shower, a homeschool space, and even a rooftop deck. The two-story layout provides enough room for their large family to live, learn, and travel together.

Marsha is a longtime Tiny House Talk reader who has owned a number of tiny homes over the years — including a converted bus. Most recently she renovated an 8×8 shed on her son’s property into a small home, complete with a recently renovated kitchen area. She put it up for sale because she was ready to start travelling again: the plan was to renovate the bus and get back on the road.
At 8 by 8 feet this is one of the smallest dwellings we have featured, and it started life as a shed — which is exactly why it cost what it did. Buying a weather-tight shell and finishing the inside is the cheapest route into small-space living there is. Sixty-four square feet forces genuinely hard choices about what earns its floor area.

Tenaj and Tino were world travelers, always going to new places and enjoying exploration. But when the world shut down, Tenaj finally convinced Tino to get a Sprinter van and convert it into their full-time home!

Holly and Dustin were tired of the typical rent trap and wanted to do something different. They took the first leap of flying to Florida to buy their bus and from there got to work creating a home. With little experience, it took them redoing almost everything 3 times to get the bus to where it is today.
But all that experience is paying off! They now pay their bills by converting buses for other people, and they are on the hunt for the right acreage where they can build a workshop to renovate buses and start a homestead. Enjoy the tour of their rig below!
