Hello, Tiny House Talk readers! Today, we’re thrilled to share with you the inspiring story of Karen, a woman who turned her tiny house dreams into reality, despite facing significant challenges along the way.

Karen’s journey to tiny house living began in 2016 when her youngest child moved out. She found herself captivated by a tiny house show on YouTube, and the idea of living in a tiny house took root. However, her journey was not without its hurdles. She lost her initial $20k downpayment when the first builder she chose unexpectedly closed their business. But Karen didn’t let this setback deter her. She persevered, and a few years later, she achieved her dream of owning an affordable tiny home.

From Dream to Reality: Karen’s Tiny House Journey

Karen’s tiny home is an Incred-I-Box model from Incredible Tiny Homes. When she bought it, the interior was a blank canvas, allowing Karen to unleash her creativity and DIY skills. She added exterior panels, built shutters, a planter box, and a staircase. Inside, she installed floating shelves, a compact kitchen, a desk area, and a slide-out pantry rack for her spices. She also made modifications to the bathroom and bedroom area to suit her needs.

Located in a mobile home park in Tucson, Arizona, Karen’s tiny home has access to 50 amp power, water, and sewer. The rent is $399 a month plus utilities. Despite the challenges she faced, Karen is happy with her tiny home and enjoys a high quality of life due to the affordability of her home.

The video also includes a comparison between RV living and tiny house living. Karen notes the benefits of tiny house design, such as a regular flush toilet, a larger shower, and better insulation. She also gives a brief tour of the rest of her tiny home, including her living room, clothing storage, and bedroom space.

Karen’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the appeal of tiny homes and living within our means. It’s a reminder that even when faced with obstacles, it’s possible to achieve your dreams with determination and a little DIY spirit.

Karen unfortunately had to take sort of the long way around to get to actually having having her tiny home. But she stuck with it and looks like a very happy owner of a perfectly adequate little tiny now. It just goes to prove that one does not need all the high end finishes and extra square footage to be happy. Congratulations Karen!

So sorry that you got taken by such a crook. You’re a really strong woman who can overcome any obstacle you face making you stronger and wiser. You have a sweet little place there and you should be mighty proud of yourself. You have everything you need and nothing you don’t. You will love the peace and freedom you need and deserve! You GO girl!!

I’m so happy for you that you were able to still see your dream of living tiny after such a horrible experience, and your home is just adorable! I love the outside design, and the inside is cozy yet with ample space. You did a great job, girl!
