Goodbye NYC, Hello RV! Traveling in Big Blue, Architect’s Tiny Motorhome

Ange was tired of the grind as a NYC architect, and decided to hit the road. She bought “Big Blue,” a 1986 Toyota Dolphin, in January of 2020, and hit the road in May. She faced a lot of ups and downs from water damage, but her resilience allowed her to create an awesome DIY space.

She admits it was a big adjustment going from full-time city life to suddenly being alone with her thoughts without wifi at times! But now she can spend a day alone in peace. Could you travel alone full-time?

Now she’s been able to see so much of the country she wouldn’t have otherwise. Check out her awesome self-built tiny home tour with Tiny Home Tours at the end of the post. You can also follow her travels on Instagram here.

You can tell why it got the name “Blue.”

She has a cooler and hanging fruit basket.

Her bedroom area was all rotted and she had to rebuild it!

Fierce young woman traveling alone and exploring not only life on the road but herself – you will go far in life – nicely done conversion but I missed anything about heat/cooling in living area.

It’s just a basic camper set up that was done on a limited budget. She only has a basic power setup with a single led acid battery and inverter that’s just enough for lights and powering her devices. Also, no propane and just some butane cans for cooking with…

So no heating and cooling systems to condition the interior, she just adjusts the windows and skylight for venting, adjusts layers of cloths, and she has some Reflectix panels she can attach to windows for additional adjustment.

This is really pretty and so organized! I love the kitchen sink and the shelving. Everything is lovely!
