Modern bedroom featuring moonlit wall art and plush bedding in a renovated cottage.

Just like this Scottish cow-shed we showed you a couple of weeks ago, this 200-year-old cottage in the UK has been completely renovated, and the results are absolutely stunning. You’d never know you were inside a historic building except for the beautifully preserved cast iron kitchen they framed off in the living room.

Even though the cottage is contemporary, it’s far from sterile. The warm wood tones and stone features make it cozy and interesting. Up the stairs, you’ll find a grand bedroom with a Super King bed, a soaking tub, a glass shower, and a separate private toilet room. What do you think of this design?

Cozy black tiny house surrounded by greenery and outdoor space.

Kirsty needed a place to live with her daughter and decided a tiny house would be the perfect, affordable fit. While there were a lot of ups and downs in getting the house from the builder, they got an incredible parking spot in a small community with other like-minded families! Did I mention there’s an orchard on-site?

The home has two lofts—one for Kirsty and one for her daughter—and you reach them via safe staircases that also offer storage. The huge kitchen maximizes counter space and makes homemade meals easy! On the other side of the house, you’ll find a U-shaped dinette area that they use to welcome friends for dinner every week. What do you think of this space?

Floating tiny house with a tower in a serene lake setting.

This is an incredible round floating tower cottage on a lake in Joncherey, France. It’s part of a larger community of eco-friendly habitats that share a lovely “lodge” on the shore with a spa and full bathrooms.

The floating home is reminiscent of “Swiss Family Robinson,” with rustic railings made from limbs and an all-wooden interior. There is a little bathroom on the first floor, and the second floor houses a queen bed. The deck area wraps around the house, providing a comfortable spot to enjoy nature and a mug of coffee.

A-Frame tiny house with modern interior design nestled in a forest setting.

Are you searching for some tiny house plans? Small House Catalog released three excellent choices recently: A 336-square-foot A-frame, a 224-square-foot studio cottage, and an itty bitty writer’s cabin.

If you’re looking for a full-time residence, the A-Frame is likely your best bet as it has a first-floor bedroom, a loft, and a kitchen and bathroom area. The studio cottage would make a great guest cottage, although with enough storage you could easily live in it full-time. Finally, the writer’s cabin is the most basic of the plans and is meant as an auxiliary office, since there’s no plumbing planned in. Check them out below and tell us which is your favorite!

Underground tiny house nestled in lush green forest at Purposely Lost Retreat.

Purposely Lost is a fantastic woodland retreat space in Sandford, Maine, where you can stay in one of three treehouses or two “Hobbit” houses. This underground home, pictured below, is a stunning blend of cozy and luxurious, with warm wood tones, leather accents, and stonework.

The home looks like a hill, with moss and mud surrounding the doors and windows. But when you enter, it’s anything but dingy and dirty! Instead, the comfortable space has a full kitchen, a bathroom (with a tiled shower stall!), and a gorgeous stone (electric) fireplace. Could you live in this space?

Self-Sustaining PodTel Tiny House in Spain at sunset.

This PodTel might be the future of housing! It was factory-built and dropped off via crane in the Spanish desert, and it’s completely, 100% self-sustaining. The tiny house is off-grid with solar panels, an incinerating toilet, and a water system that sucks moisture out of the air to provide water for the home.

All of those features are then controlled by your smartphone via a special app, making the entire house smart as well as sustainable! You can dim the lights, control the temperature, and even purchase locked “extras” while you stay there. Because the home is self-contained, it can be placed just about anywhere in the world (that you can move a crane, of course). What do you think?

Small DIY tiny house with yellow door and compact design in a natural setting.

Julie and Ryan wanted a place that felt like home, but couldn’t find any affordable options in California, so they built a tiny house! They looked for floor plans that would provide a separate loft office for Julie. Still, they ultimately decided to create their own design that carefully incorporated everything they needed for themselves and their dog, Nuggs.

Their craftsman-style design features a loft with space for a King-sized bed, accessible via storage stairs, and a long galley kitchen with full-sized appliances and lots of counter space. The back bathroom has a composting toilet system, a washer/dryer, and a walk-in tiled shower stall. Enjoy examining all the details below!
