Custom-built by Movable Roots for a client who needed a short-term rental on their equestrian farm, this looks like an awesome spot to vacation. But honestly, at nearly 600 square feet you could easily live “tiny” here as a family of four or five. Tell us what you think!

Robert wanted to create a tiny house vacation property on his land, but didn’t want to build another one with a standard “cozy cabin” vibe which is common in Nashville, Indiana where he lives. Instead, he commissioned this fantastic two bedroom modern wonder with lovely forest views.
It has a large rectangular main living, dining and kitchen area, with dramatic high ceilings covered in birch plywood. The bathroom is dark, moody, and luxurious, and the two twin bedrooms have queen-sized beds, wardrobes and sleek minimalist furniture. Enjoy the tour below!

There’s nothing new about domes, but I love these ones in Colombia that seem to be covered in a taught canvas, creating an upgraded tent perfect for the mild weather of the country. There are a number of them together built on stilts into a mountain/hillside with gorgeous views.
Some are for couples, but this 20-foot-diameter one has a loft for kids (age 6 and over) and a beautiful tiled bathroom. The deck looks out on the valleys below! What do you think of this design?

This creek-front cabin has a wrap-around deck to give you gorgeous forest views all around. There’s an electric grill outside for burgers and inside there’s a lovely full kitchen so you never have to leave the cabin, unless you want to!
A dumb-waiter allows you to lift up any bags you come with from the ground to the cabin. And a spiral staircase inside ascends to the loft bedroom. As an added plus — there’s no composting toilet here! A 3/4, fully-functioning bathroom (and even a washer/dryer combo) gives you all the comforts of home. Oh, and did I mention its pet-friendly?

After a shorter excursion in their 4Runner, Miles and Sinclaire decided they wanted to hit the road full-time. They got remote jobs and saved a portion of each paycheck so they could complete their build in a year — and believe it or not, they finished two months early!
Their 2002 E-450 Shuttle Bus included handicap access, which they left in place so they could open the doors and enjoy the view from their queen-sized bed. They also managed to fit in a tile-and-cedar shower stall, cassette toilet, a three-burner stove/oven, and a mini-split A/C (run via generator) for all the comforts of home. Not everyone chooses to go tiny forever — and that’s okay! Sometimes downsizing for a season is just what you need to check things off your bucket list, just like Kelly & David. They both had normal jobs in Portland and lived in a 3,000 square foot home.
They chose to take a 15-month sabbatical from work and purchased a Winnebago van so they could spend all their time traveling rather than building a DIY van. While the video tour was shot before their final three months of travel, in “real-time” they just finished up their U.S. & Canada tour and are headed back to “normal life.” Find out how long that lasts by following them on Instagram.

“Why pay someone else to do something when you could learn to do it yourself and have that skill forever?” Tyler of the Broken Compass Bus heard that quote from a #buslifer when he and his wife, Raela, first began their bus build-out, and he took it to heart. From electrical to plumbing to woodworking, he learned everything he could from YouTube to create their amazing home.
Tyler is also a traveling musician, which between Raela’s travel agent work, pays their on-the-road bills. It’s a huge upgrade from the time that he worked 6 days a week, just waiting for one day to enjoy himself before going back to the grind. Enjoy their bus tour below!
