Lefty is a thyroid cancer survivor on the trip of his life visiting all the national parks! He rock climbs, bikes, and camps out in each park until he’s seen it all, and then he moves on to the next location. When he’s done with all the physical exertion of his day, he crawls into his super comfy fixed bed and calls it a night.
He has a cool outdoor shower set-up and a composting toilet box that doubles as his swivel chair footrest. But one of his special upgrades to the Ram ProMaster was the custom bug netting that he installed. While it’s not cheap, he said it’s one of the better investments he made for van life. Sure, you could stay in a hobbit hole, but what about a vacation in the Shire? This little Hobbit Village in Tennessee sits at Forest Gully Farms and includes three hobbit holes you can rent all at once! Two holes contain beds; the third is a dry kitchen and dining area to gather.
The homes are part of a permaculture farm, where you can collect berries and chicken eggs and roam 15 acres of beautiful land! There’s even a kid-sized hobbit playhouse on the grounds. You’ll find a bath house with two bathrooms and a laundry room near the huts.

This one-of-a-kind solar-powered vacation cabin sits in the Quebec mountains, secluded from neighbors with absolutely gorgeous views! Called “Le Lagöm,” it’s supposed to encapsulate the Swedish idea of “living life with less.” The huge glass tower surrounds the living room and lets the loft bedroom lookout on the snow-capped evergreens.

Brad was a business-and-home-owner stuck in the grind, and he wanted a change. After a trip camping in nature in his SUV, he started the downsizing process – selling and tossing his stuff so he could go mobile. This Uhaul conversion is his third rig, and it has everything just the way he wants it!
You’ll find he added a pass-through door, and a really creative sliding chest fridge that turns into more counter-space. He has a cool desk/table that transforms into a standing desk, and even tucked a closet and emergency toilet into the build. Enjoy the video tour below!

One of the lovely parts about yurt-living is the built-in skylight in the center of the yurt roof. This one sends “Orange Sunshine” into the interior, thus the building’s quaint name.
This electricity-free structure sits in the “middle of nowhere” with beautiful river views and plenty of natural seclusion. In the cold months you can light the woodburning stove, and there’s a queen bed and futon where guests can sleep.

Trevor and Rae wanted to travel full-time for a year, so they saved up to buy an awesome military truck at auction. They didn’t start right away, but when Trevor decided to get sober he put all his time and energy into building out their first truck home for just $37,000.
They lived in the rig for three years, with a 6-month stint at home due to a family illness, and have been working to finish their new home built on the back of a retired snow plow truck. Shipping Containers are such a great starting point for tiny houses, particularly if you’re looking for a little vacation property. This is one of three cargo container cottages on a property in Georgia with breathtaking valley views.
The interior is nice and simple, with an open kitchen/bedroom area and a bathroom at one end. It opens out to a large covered deck with a porch swing. What do you think?

David and his wife have been building a small home in Kenya, but just before the pandemic hit they were in the process of selling their country home in France and renting out their townhome, leaving them with nowhere to stay! So they took the space above their garage and created a 300 square foot tiny house. They were able to move in just 2 days before France locked down.
While they are no longer living tiny in France, they spent about a year (during all that quarantining!) living in their gîte. David shares all the details in a little story after the photo tour, so be sure to read that!

Four years ago, Kirs and Devin wanted to escape the rising rent in Nashville and decided to go tiny and move into a fifth wheel. They renovated that one, and later moved into a toy hauler. Most recently the couple purchased a gorgeous 44 ft. fifth wheel that hasn’t needed any work and they are loving their RV life.
The two find places to park in the area, and don’t travel right now, but they are financially free (and their home is awesome!). They share the trailer with their three dogs. Be sure to enjoy the tour and the Q&A they did with us at the end of the post.
