Nick had always admired tiny homes, and with parents in the construction industry and some money in his pocket, he finally decided it was time to build one.
He’s quite tall at 6’5″, so he made sure everything in his tiny house worked for his height. He’s even potty-training his cat so that he doesn’t have to store a litter box inside. What do you think of this awesome build?

Nico and Jona are on their third tiny house on wheels, and by now they knew exactly what they needed to make their truck tiny home nearly perfect. Learning from past builds, they had this one professionally designed by Nico’s brother-in-law (an architect) and it really shows.
They chose to splurge on upgrades like a dishwasher, washing machine, eco-flow shower head, and incinerating toilet. As Nico says, could they have done it cheaper? Of course. But are they happy? Absolutely.

Scott and Susan Burbank are a retired couple who decided to build their own Freightliner motorhome because, at 6’8″ tall, Scott simply couldn’t be comfortable in most standardized motorhomes. So they acquired a retired semi-truck and spent 14 months converting it into their dream home on wheels.
The truck was originally just an empty shell with cables everywhere since it used to be a mobile computer lab owned by Microsoft. But Scott and Susan worked diligently, spending 10-hour days, 6 days a week, to turn it into the beautiful custom home it is today. They even invented a 5-foot murphy bed-style shower to save space!

Abodu is a startup that specializes in building ADUs, or accessory dwelling units. These are small homes that are built on a concrete foundation and are designed to blend in with the main house. The backyard cottages are often used as rentals or extensions of the main home for family members. Abodu has already built over one hundred of these units across California, Oregon, and Washington! They are typically much cheaper than renting an apartment or retirement home.
The company makes a point that its units should be viewed as assets that appreciate in value, just like a regular house. This is because they are built on a solid foundation and are a permanent part of the property, instead of being classified as vehicles or trailers that normally depreciate in value over time. These prefab backyard tiny homes can be installed in as little as a month’s time.

In 2018, Nicole and Jamie began building their DIY tiny house to own a home in the high-cost-of-living state of Massachusetts. It took them about 2 years and $30,000 to complete the build, and they have been loving living there ever since.
The home features shou sugi ban siding and an adorable arched doorway that steps down into the house. Inside, there is a cozy living space and an incredible pull-out staircase up to their bedroom. The entire loft bedroom is actually an inset mattress, so they crawl right into bed. What do you think of this design?
