This couple purchased a plot of land in the Pacific Northwest that happened to have a tiny house shell and trailer already onsite! Since he’s a master carpenter and she has experience in interior decorating, they decided to finish it themselves and sell their creation.

The result is a unique blend of modern, industrial and Scandinavian design elements that really meld into a masterpiece. I’m in love with it! And it’s for sale!

Story Behind the House:

We bought some land in a forest on the Olympic Peninsula last summer and it came with this shell of a tiny home on its own brand new trailer. So we finished it ourselves.

Drew is a master carpenter/contractor and I’m a filmmaker/writer with a passion for interior design.

We wanted to create something that was contemporary but still in keeping with the Pacific Northwest where we are. The result is a modern cabin with a few funky design twists, like the handmade copper piping bathroom faucet and shower fixture and a reading loft/sleeping bunk above the living area that’s accessed by an iron pipe ladder. We went back and forth on making it fully off-grid but in the end installed an Incinolet toilet which needs an electricity hook up. Solar panels aren’t enough to power it. No black/grey water tanks so it needs to be parked with full hook ups. It comes with a 50ft 50amp power cord.

A large sleeping loft has a queen size mattress. The kitchen has lots of storage – plywood cupboards all custom built by Drew – and the metal boxes are reclaimed school shoe lockers found at Seattle Second Use. The light fixture was designed and made by Alexandra – three hessian rope bulbs wrapped around a piece of driftwood found on the beach.

Many of the items used to style the interior are also for sale.

We figure it’s a great full time living space, weekend retreat, granny flat/guest house or garden office.

Highlights

  • 270-sq.-ft.
  • Incinolet toilet
  • Located in Olympic Peninsula of Washington State
  • Asking price is $129,000
