Lessons from This Home

  • Foundation Homes Solve the Parking Problem: Unlike tiny houses on wheels, a foundation-built home on its own lot eliminates the challenge of finding legal placement while providing permanent, stable housing
  • Built-In Storage Maximizes Usable Space: Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and wall-mounted hooks keep belongings organized without consuming floor area in a 352-square-foot layout
  • Pass-Through Kitchen Bars Create Visual Openness: A pass-through window between the galley kitchen and living area connects spaces visually and provides a casual dining spot without dedicating room to a separate table
  • Fenced Yards Extend Tiny Living Outdoors: A private fenced yard with garden beds effectively expands usable living space and enables self-sufficiency activities like growing food that small interiors cannot accommodate
  • Including Furniture Simplifies Buyer Transitions: Selling a tiny home with furniture that already fits the space removes the challenge of sourcing appropriately scaled pieces, making move-in immediate

What is that little door under the house in the backyard? Storm cellar??

I think that used to be a basement window.

Initially thought the same but listing states there’s no basement. So either crawlspace or may be a service panel/chute, going back to 1946 it could be where coal or oil got delivered to heat the home and could be why there’s a vehicle logo above it…

          Hi James,
Long time no hear. Still making sure we’re all on the straight and narrow I see.
You might be right, but who’s to say how the house was originally configured.

Thanks to both of you for your insight. I always learn something interesting from not only these listings, but the thoughtful comments too!

More than likely access to the crawl space. It would be cool to add a full basement to the house.

By American standards this maybe costly. By British Columbia, Canada standards, its a smoking hot deal. A
approx 440 sq. ft. condo, no parking will cost you approx. $400K. The lot with this little house is great! You can’t buy a lot for $275K in Greater Vancouver, B.C. or southern Vancouver Island.
A parking spot in a condo building will cost you $100K.

If I could purchase a house such as this for that price, I’d already be sitting in it. Its adorable. With the amount of land it has, you’re set for life. Its thought of everything.

These tiny houses on foundations are a great way to deal with the housing crisis we are seeing all over North America. What I really like about this home is it has seperate rooms.

Once upon a time you found homes this size in any number of cities in B.C. Saw one recently for sale, it was over a 100 yrs old and just adorable, with a great yard–price, $440K

The price of housing has become absolutely ridiculous.
This is a reflection of the current housing prices in Bremerton Washington.
Actually, this place is priced a little on the low side. Most houses (larger, multiple bdrms.) are priced around $350K-$500K or more.
Same holds true for nearby towns, too.
