The Dugout: Hobbit-Inspired Cottage with Library Bath!

This post contains affiliate links.

On a smallholding (family farm) near the England/Wales border sits The Dugout: A little cottage, literally dug from the hillside, filled with quirky cut stone floors and charming woodwork (including pulley light switches).

The handmade Chestnut Master bed sits in the round portion of the cottage. The home also has comfortable seating near a wood stove, a dining table, and small kitchen, as well as it’s signature feature: a library bath — literally a bathtub in a bookcase.

You are welcome to watch the farm owners going about their daily tasks, buy fresh meat and produce at the onsite shop, or for an additional fee, even participate in a woodworking workshop. Alternatively, you can sit on the patio and take in the astonishing views of the valley below. Book your stay here.

This is beautiful. I don’t like to fly at all nor will I go on a cruise ship. Not because of the virus. I don’t like planes or cruise ships. Not practical for me to go to England. This is amazing. Love the bath library. Who knows. Maybe I might rid my fear someday and maybe not. I love this Hobbit House.

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” 😉

Now this is just cruel. To actually let you stay here and then when you have just decided that you want to live there forever you are forced to leave because you didn’t know you would need a permanent stay. Nope. Once I am in you’d never get me out again 😉

The only thing I don’t like is the “library bath”… Keeping books next to steamy water is a recipe for mildewyn disaster! 🙀😿
Use the bath shelves for towels & toiletries, & put the bookshelves elsewhere. 😺📚

      That is a good point!
