Marsha is a longtime Tiny House Talk reader who has owned a number of tiny homes over the years — including a converted bus. Most recently she renovated an 8×8 shed on her son’s property into a small home, complete with a recently renovated kitchen area. She put it up for sale because she was ready to start travelling again: the plan was to renovate the bus and get back on the road.
At 8 by 8 feet this is one of the smallest dwellings we have featured, and it started life as a shed — which is exactly why it cost what it did. Buying a weather-tight shell and finishing the inside is the cheapest route into small-space living there is. Sixty-four square feet forces genuinely hard choices about what earns its floor area.

Here’s a brand new 32-foot tiny house on wheels that a general contractor of Capstone Creations built during lockdown. The tiny home in North Carolina features one loft accessible via storage stairs, tons of counter space, and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The living room has a fold-down table and plenty of room for a couch. In the kitchen, you’ll find large appliances including a dishwasher, and there’s room for a washer and dryer hook-up. It’s for sale on Craigslist for $119,000.

While we’ve seen lofts used as living rooms before, the living room loft in The Violet Tiny House by Sunflower Tiny Homes is definitely one-of-a-kind. Instead of a standard flat space with furniture, they actually created the loft with two fixed couches that face each other.
The drop-down area in the middle allows you to stand getting in and out of the loft, and have a perfect spot to chat, read or hang out. Underneath is a queen-sized bedroom area. What are your thoughts on this arrangement?

It’s always fun to see something totally new in the tiny house world, and this cottage on wheels really fits the bill. It’s incredibly compact, but what stands out is the roof that actually collapses down for transport or maintenance! There’s also a deck built onto the trailer for outdoor living.
Right now, the builder hasn’t finished the interior because he plans to sell the home, and is offering to complete it to the client’s preference, or sell it as-is. The basic design has a large downstairs room, and a loft for sleeping. What do you think of the roof?

One thing I love about tiny spaces is that owners frequently go “all-out” because it’s most cost-effective in a tiny space. That’s what happened in the bathroom of this Austin tiny house. It’s completely tiled with gorgeous orange and gold tiles!
The rest of the house keeps it simple (which is nice, there is such thing as “too much”) with white walls and wood accents. There’s a loft bedroom, storage stairs, and a kitchen set up for simple meals. It had a first life as an Airbnb and comes fully furnished! They’re asking $49K on Facebook.

This traditional-style Vermont build wears board-and-batten siding outside and pine clapboards inside, and it solves the small-footprint sleeping problem twice over. At just 192 square feet (8×24) it still fits a twin-sized downstairs bedroom — no ladder required — plus a 7×7 loft positioned in the middle of the house with access from both sides.
A centre loft is an unusual choice and a smart one: putting it mid-span rather than at one end keeps headroom at both ends of the home and gives two routes up. The rest is a compact living area, a kitchen with butcher block countertops, and a bathroom that can run on- or off-grid depending on where you put it. Built in 2021.
