I’m excited to let you know about this new up and coming 11 acre tiny house community called Lemon Cove Village in Lemon Cove, California opening January 1st, 2015.
The community consists of 55 tiny house ONLY spaces. This means ONLY tiny houses (no traditional RVs). It’s near Sequoia National Park.
Right now rates are listed at $450 to $595 per month depending on the spot. There’s going to be a pool, covered patio, outdoor showers, a coin operated laundry room, community kitchen, high speed internet, storage sheds, a garden area, and more.
This is VERY exciting news and I can’t wait to see more communities like this pop up throughout the rest of the world. It’s happening!

I was glad to see so many people in Florida interested in the tiny house movement. There were over 300 people who came to the Florida Tiny House Enthusiasts Meet Up. Wow!

So far there have been a few areas in the United States adopting the tiny house movement’s principles as a way to uplift and empower the homeless using tiny house villages. That’s right. Tiny homes for the homeless.
We’ve seen it in Seattle. We’ve seen it in Texas. We’ve seen it in Wisconsin. We’ve seen it in Eugene, Oregon (Emerald & Opportunity Village). We’ve seen it in Chico, California.
And we’ve even seen success stories, like this formerly homeless couple who have been happily living tiny for 6+ months now.
The question is, where is it going to happen next?
One place that seems to be making definitive plans for it is Portland, Oregon where the mayor, Charlie Hales, is enamored with the concept.

I want to show you how if you want to you can help create Emerald Village which is an upcoming tiny house village community designed to empower the homeless in Eugene, Oregon.
The same group of people that has successfully OpportUNITY Village in Eugene. I love what they’re doing and how they’re doing it so much that I’m participating in the fundraising (and you can too) for their next tiny house village.
In case you’re able and wanting to help I wanted to show you how but obviously please don’t feel obligated because I really just want to show you how amazing this is.
So enjoy the article and photos below and re-share this post if you feel drawn to do so because it’s a great opportunity to help spread the Tiny House Movement in the way that truly helps those in need.

Is now finally the time for small homes to be more widely accepted in more neighborhoods everywhere? Do you think all of this publicity will help us lower square footage standards and make them more reasonable? Let us know in the comments after you watch and enjoy below.

I’m glad to announce that a team of good hearted people in Chico, California have organized the Chico Housing Action Team and their mission is to bring a tiny house village to serve their homeless population.
Right now there’s a growing trend of tiny house villages and communities being created to help the homeless population throughout the United States. I list current communities in this page.
If everything goes as planned for Chico’s first tiny house community it will open Winter 2014. This ‘village’ model has been working successfully in Portland for more than a decade and is now spreading throughout the country to benefit more people in need of truly affordable housing.

I’m excited about building up a list of up and coming as well as current tiny house communities and in this post I’m introducing you to the 333 acre Sacred Mountain Sanctuary Eco Village which is in Candler, North Carolina.
It’s near Asheville (about 25 minute drive away) and it is a new permaculture eco village that is still being developed. Right now it’s possible to arrange a visit, stay in a cabin, and learn about permaculture.
And in this post you’ll get to tour some of their tiny houses virtually, take a video tour of the village, and check out their website, blog and Facebook page to learn more and connect with Sacred Mountain Sanctuary.

I wanted to show you how tiny house communities like this Opportunity Village in Eugene, Oregon are being used to help the now formerly homeless.
This is just one of the reasons why I love tiny housing. They empower people! And this is how I’d like to see more of them being used. In a way that lifts people up.
Especially those who are in need. This village opened its doors in August and it has been a success.
Current residents are officially formerly homeless and they maintain the property and govern themselves. They’re proud of what they have.
Tiny Housing to End and Empower Homeless
I encourage you to enjoy the videos, interview and information on this community to empower homeless people using tiny housing below (plus how they’re creating yet another one!):
