Mike is a professional snowboarder who purchased 84 acres in Tahoe on a huge granite slab and transformed it into a hand-crafted rock cabin with a hot tub, cold plunge, ski lift, and even an onsite Overlander that he rents out on Airbnb!

It took Mike years and years to get the property he bought in 2005 to where it is today, and he did it with lots of help from friends and family. While the off-grid spot is still closer to glamping, it offers all the amenities of home and Mike did such an incredible job designing this masterpiece. Enjoy the tour!

Stuart and Charlotte were no strangers to tiny house life when they bought an old military truck and decided to transform it into an off-roading home. They had already spent a couple of years living vanlife, but wanted a rig that could take them anywhere.

They spent much of the 2020 lockdown finishing their build and have been chasing good weather and beautiful sights ever since! Read their story and enjoy the photo tour below.

You might remember Kirt and Jen’s family as the family of four living full-time in their Sprinter van! As their boys grew up, they decided they needed more room — but they didn’t go the traditional route of re-purchasing a home. Instead, they built out this DIY Overlander that doubled their space and made it easier for them to stay boondocking for a couple of weeks at a time.

Their Overlander is a combination of a dualie truck and a brand new specialized box that they attached to it and converted into a home. The space inside has a large kitchen, bunks for the boys, and a standard queen-sized bed for mom and dad. They also have a shower and toilet in their mini bathroom and an incredible fold-out outdoor space with an awning.

Long before #vanlife or tiny living were Instagram-worthy pursuits, Mike was in Africa living out of an overlander. He has converted 3 separate rigs of his own since then, using them to travel all over — and he loves waking up in his own bed with his own things no matter where he goes.

This rig was a military vehicle with only 5,000 miles on it when he purchased it. He spent $18,000 on the vehicle, and another $75k or so converting into the ultimate overlander. You’d never guess from the bright orange exterior that the inside has a cozy farmhouse vibe! Enjoy the tour below.

Daniel served in Vietnam and Thailand and got married, had children, raised them, and retired. Just after retiring, he lost his wife to cancer.  He felt completely lost and ended up hiking the Camino de Santiago Trail in Spain, where he came to realize how little he needed to live and feel content — so he found a Mitsubishi Fuso 4×4 and made it into a home on wheels!

This awesome overlander is ready for just about anything. It has tons of storage that slide out, his fridge slides outside or can be accessed indoors, and he put his tool chest pantry on a swivel, so it’s easily accessible. Both his side walls open up and turn into awnings for when he really wants to enjoy the weather. What do you think?

Our reader Howard reached out this week after meeting this awesome family of 5 who live full-time in their “overlander” named Bert. This incredible vehicle has two huge slide outs that make this tiny house quite spacious.

It features two bunks and a pull-out bed for mom and dad. Their oldest child sleeps in a built-in bunk in their trailer which they haul with them around the country. Not long into their journey, the husband ended up breaking his leg in a motorbike accident, but they are plugging along despite the set-back.

You can follow the family’s adventures on their YouTube channel, and enjoy their video tour below!
