If you’re looking for some inspiration for living on the road cheaply, look no further than Dylan Magaster because he built an epic life with a $5500 van.
Jenna from Tiny House Giant Journey met up with Dylan, who converted his 1994 G20 van into an off-grid home for less than $5,500 (that includes the cost for the van itself). Because he works online (check out his YouTube channel here), he can make money while traveling coast to coast. Watch his tour with Jenna below to get all the details about his off-grid rig. Enjoy!

This is the latest from Alpine Tiny Homes in Utah: A live-edge beetle kill tiny home on a 28 ft. gooseneck.
The home, built for an an artist, features both a loft kid’s bedroom (with under-bed storage) as well as a gooseneck master bedroom. I really love the studio loft with a skylight where the artist can make masterpieces! The u-shaped kitchen and full bath both feature gorgeous copper sinks, and there’s even a doggy and cat door under the gooseneck stairs.

Wintergreen Studios built this eclectic micro cabin (less than 100 square feet) with cordwood walls from old cedar fence rails found on the land, ceiling rafters from a local woodlot, recycled glass and mirrors in the walls, reclaimed windows, door and wood stove, and slate floor tiles from an architectural salvage depot in Vermont.
We love the folding plywood bed, the charming simplicity of the tiny space, and the natural green roof!

This couple is living legally in their off-grid tiny house and homestead! They live in a 24 ft. THOW in Arizona and describe themselves as “digital entrepreneur nomads” promoting “a minimalistic debt free lifestyle.”
You can see a few screenshots of their crisp, modern tiny house below, and then watch a number of their videos from their YouTube channel, Life inside a Box. The couple started their “vlogs” when they first got the idea to build the house, and now they have hundreds of videos documenting the entire process, including DIY videos for those who want to follow their lead.
I love that they go into detail about the different off-grid aspects of their life, as well as dedicate time to telling us what about their tiny house they’d change, how much the house cost and how they are living legally! You might lose a few hours watching all their videos — don’t say I didn’t warn you!

This is a 400 sq. ft. Off-Grid New Mexico Cabin in Tierra Amarilla on 5.27 acres!
For the asking price ($44,900), I think this is quite a deal. Not only do you get your tiny house, you have some land so you’ll have a place to live happily ever after (as long as you don’t mind the off-grid life, of course!). Plus it’s pretty cute inside! It runs off solar and wind power and comes with fishing rights to water bodies just a short drive away.
Enjoy the pictures and get more information about the house and contact details on the last page!

This is an off-grid tiny library cabin in the Georgia forest!
Hello. we built this on a permaculture farm this last winter. An off grid library/ lounge in the middle of the Georgia woods. The project was completed in 2 weeks and cost about $2000. It is primarily made from recycled materiel. The major expenses were the wood stove and pipe, foundation and tin roofing.
Enjoy!
