In this post I wanted to share the story of how this young couple left their apartment life and built their own 128 sq. ft. tiny home on wheels that’s 100% mortgage-free.
When they started, they really didn’t know much about building a house. They just learned and adapted as they went. And they did it.
Now, after much hard work and sweat, they have the simple lifestyle that they once only dreamed of. A debt-free life that’s sustainable. And they did it all themselves. Now that’s something to be proud of, isn’t it?

I’ve told you about Jenna and Guillaume of Tiny House Giant Journey before. Last time I got to share their new DIY tiny home with you thanks to Deek over at RelaxShacks.com.
Today I’m glad to tell you that they’re successfully on their way towards touring across the nation in their tiny house on wheels that they built themselves. And did I mention, they’re taking their 1- year-old Australian Shepherd with them? Yes! And the dog loves the loft and is able to climb up there with no problem.
Their 132 sq. ft. tiny house was built using Tumbleweed Cypress plans and a Tumbleweed Trailer which cost them between $25,000 and $30,000 in total to build. And they’re towing the house at a maximum of 50mph as they travel the United States and Canada. You can see their complete route and possibly meet up with them here.

I’m excited to introduce you to John Russell and Debbie Hanson. They’re a couple who’ve gone from divorces and 2,000 sq. ft. homes into a DIY 200 sq. ft. tiny house on wheels that they call their Ritz on Wheels. It cost them only $15,000 in materials to build it themselves and just under a year in labor.

DIY Tiny House Builder Looking for Space to Park & Dwell – Share Your Tiny Living Story Too!
Hi Alex and Tiny House Newsletter readers, I have been a fan of Tiny House Talk for almost a year now and I really appreciate you bringing the tiny house community together like you have.
I started building my tiny house in January and it will be livable by this December. My fiancee and I are Senior college students at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA and we will be getting married on January 2.
We would like to live in our tiny house for our last semester of college in the spring but are having trouble finding a place to put our tiny house to live in from January to May. After we graduate in May we can really go anywhere but would like to look in Maryland, particularly around the Baltimore/DC area because that is where our family is.

Guest Post: Our 415 Sq. Ft. Koastal Cottage Tiny Home with Bath and a Half!
We RVed full time in a 40′ fifth wheel for three years with our younger daughter (our elder daughter was already grown) and then moved into an apartment in Williamsburg, Virginia.
When Kaitie left for college, we moved back into the RV, placing it in a small mobile home park. Seven years later, when a tree destroyed the RV, we ordered a tiny home from Lil’ Lodges in Tallahassee, FL.
Now York County wants us to move, stating our home is an park model RV (although it is too large and an actual RV was here for SEVEN years!).

This is the story of a couple who teamed up and decided to build their own 250 square foot tiny cabin made out of mostly reclaimed materials for only around $7,000 in material costs. They did all the labor themselves.
And since they built their tiny home on a foundation on their own land they continually make improvements to the place to better meet their needs. For example, they’ve added a porch and a bathroom so far to the original design.
Originally the structure was 12’x20′ until they added the porch and bathroom which extends the footprint to 18’x20′. Lots of the materials were salvaged from a barn along with other random finds that they repurposed.

I had to share this story with you on a couple who has been living simply in a tiny house for the last six months and counting.
Christopher Derek and Betty Ybarra have been living in this micro cabin since December 2013. And it’s all of just 98 sq. ft.
The formerly homeless couple now have a solid roof over their heads. They park on the street and are required to move every two days to be compliant with city laws.
