This “Fold-A-Mansion,” or “FAM” for short, is the amazing design of architect Larry Windes. He built the expanding, fold-out home on a trailer in Costa Rica, where it’s available for short-term rentals or for sale (without the land).
When unfolded, the small home boasts a ground-floor and upstairs bedroom. Because of the lifted roof, you can stand upright in the loft! There’s a functioning kitchen and luxurious bathroom as well. You can buy it for $130,000. What do you think of this innovative design?
This is Roberta’s small cottage in San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica.
She bought the house sight unseen, later remodeled it, and has been living there since 2015. Not long after settling in, she built a tiny house (casita or ‘cabina’) on the property as well! She now rents that out on Airbnb for additional income. You can learn about her casita and how it was built, on this post.
This is Roberta’s tiny ‘cabina’ in Costa Rica. After moving to Costa Rica and renovating her home there, she decided to build this casita in her backyard for rental revenue and as a place for her family to stay when visiting.
It’s a lovely riverfront tiny home in San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica, available on Airbnb, too. What do you think? Learn more below including construction photos of how it was built.
Cúbica® is a company in Costa Rica that has created this shipping container tiny home with a rooftop recreational deck.
A 20′ shipping container was used to turn it into an amazing 160 sq. ft. tiny house that can sleep up to four people. Inside you’ll find a full kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer, multi-functional living/dining/sleeping area, and ample outdoor space.
