This small cottage in the Tasmanian bush has a rich 100-year-old history. A timber-and-stone creation, it was added onto in the 1970s and has been lovingly renovated in 2011 by the current owners. It’s a lovely blend of old and new that comfortably welcomes guests.

Fresh white paint covers most of the interior and contrasts with the warm wood tones from vintage furniture. Outside, the most remarkable feature is a gazebo area containing a deep soaking tub. This quiet getaway is a lovely spot to reconnect with friends and family.

A wonderful retired couple from California was ready to downsize — so they sold their big house to their kids and had a gorgeous Cascade Max built for them by TruForm Tiny. They’ll park the tiny home as an ADU on the same property as their original home.

This park model has a spacious first floor bedroom with huge windows to let in natural light and lots of storage. They have a walk-through bathroom, galley kitchen, and ladder access to a bonus loft. The living room shares the bedroom’s big windows. Take a peek!

After quarantines and lockdowns became a normal part of life, Teja was looking for a place of his own instead of living with roommates — but when the average cost of a home in San Jose where he lives was over $1 million, there was just no way he could get into the housing market.

That’s when San Jose agreed to allow ADUs in the city, and Teja worked as a trailblazer to get his professionally-built tiny house on wheels approved on his parent’s property. He’s now using that experience to help others get legal tiny homes situated in the city. What do you think of his awesome tiny?

They did some super creative stuff with this conversion, including creating an elevator bed for the grown-ups that comes down at night and a living/eating/car-seat-holding area that turns into a giant kid bed. Let us know what your favorite part is below!

Abodu is a startup that specializes in building ADUs, or accessory dwelling units. These are small homes that are built on a concrete foundation and are designed to blend in with the main house. The backyard cottages are often used as rentals or extensions of the main home for family members. Abodu has already built over one hundred of these units across California, Oregon, and Washington! They are typically much cheaper than renting an apartment or retirement home.

The company makes a point that its units should be viewed as assets that appreciate in value, just like a regular house. This is because they are built on a solid foundation and are a permanent part of the property, instead of being classified as vehicles or trailers that normally depreciate in value over time. These prefab backyard tiny homes can be installed in as little as a month’s time.
