Tony used all his savings to buy a shipping container back in 2017. He had zero construction experience but was sure it’d take him about 3 months to convert the container into a home. Instead, he worked extra and then spent his weekends — for 9 months — seeing his plan come to fruition. In the end, he spent $13K on an impressive tiny house, even though it took longer than he expected. When his video tour went viral on YouTube, he found himself in the position to start a tiny house company.
Now he has an entire business and has built more than 100 container homes and has even done a van conversion. He offers DIY classes online and has really made a name for himself in the tiny world. Enjoy his origin story interview below, and let us know what you think about container homes in the comments! Do you think you could figure out how to become a tiny house builder?

We showed off the “Hubble House” from Voyager Houses yesterday, and today we want to show you one of their THOWs. This is the Viking 1, which is a 21-foot-long tiny home on wheels with *no loft.* Instead, there’s a ground-floor bed that’s slightly elevated to allow for a really neat couch-to-bed system underneath that doubles as storage. You’ll have to check out the pictures below.
Additionally, you’ll find a compact L-shaped kitchen and a 3/4 bathroom with a washer/dryer combo. The walls are all Nordic Pine, and it’s insulated with wool insulation, which is eco-friendly and extra cozy. Let us know what you think!

One of our readers tipped us off to Voyager Houses, a Romanian tiny house company that builds some truly gorgeous modern tiny homes. The one I’ll show you first is the Hubble House, a studio-style foundation home that fits a lot of style into a compact footprint!
This one has the “bedroom” tucked in three sides of windows that let you feel like you’re outside. That area doubles as the living space. The other half of the tiny home is split between the dining/kitchen and the spa-like bathroom. There’s a tiled shower, flip-up table, and a cozy wood-burning stove. Let us know your favorite feature in the comments!

Remember the Community First Village we told you about? Well now we want to tell you about The Field’s Edge, founded by a group of people who interned at Community First for four months so that they could replicate the awesome community-based system in Midland, Texas.
This group has been raising funding while finding RVs to house some of their homeless neighbors. They now have the property for their village and everything is coming together!
Construction began on Phase I in March 2021. Phase I includes the Mabee Foundation Community Center which houses The Field’s Edge offices, a behavioral and physical healthcare clinic space, a market, and a multipurpose great room. Also included in Phase I is the first “pod” of homes which includes 9 single-occupant tiny homes for the chronically homeless, one missional home, and a commercial bath, kitchen, and laundry facility that we lovingly call the Bathhouse. Construction of Phase I will be completed in June 2022.
The Village sits on 23.5 acres inside of the city limits of southwestern Midland and will eventually have 10 “pods” of homes, 90 homes for the chronically homeless, and 10 homes for missional residents who voluntarily live on site to help cultivate community.
This is so great! Could your community use a village like this?

When Kels and Jay first went tiny, they converted a large bus into an awesome tiny house. Kels said that was largely for her — she couldn’t imagine downsizing any further into a van. But after two years of #buslife, she realized she didn’t need that much! So they sold the bus and converted a Ford Transit into an awesome van house.
Unlike many vans, theirs includes a wet bath and an oven! They created a cool “bed desk” with a gaming chair so they can edit all the videos they post on YouTube or that they take for Jenna of Tiny House Giant Journey. When they aren’t filming, they make money helping others convert their buses/vans into tiny homes. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Daniel served in Vietnam and Thailand and got married, had children, raised them, and retired. Just after retiring, he lost his wife to cancer. He felt completely lost and ended up hiking the Camino de Santiago Trail in Spain, where he came to realize how little he needed to live and feel content — so he found a Mitsubishi Fuso 4×4 and made it into a home on wheels!
This awesome overlander is ready for just about anything. It has tons of storage that slide out, his fridge slides outside or can be accessed indoors, and he put his tool chest pantry on a swivel, so it’s easily accessible. Both his side walls open up and turn into awnings for when he really wants to enjoy the weather. What do you think?

Jim got in touch with us to show us his Tumbleweed Cypress shell that he built back in 2014 on a 20′ Tumbleweed Titan trailer. He did an awesome job with such attention to detail, and now he is ready for it to go to someone who can finish off the inside.
While he did sneak a shower stall into the build before closing off the walls, the rest of the interior is unfinished (no plumbing or electrical). The Cypress is Tumbleweed’s most popular model, and for a good reason. It’s the “classic” tiny house with a kitchen/bathroom under the loft bedroom and the living space in the front near the itty-bitty porch. It’s almost like a piece of tiny house history! Jim’s selling the shell for $20K.

D knows what she loves and is so unapologetically *her,* and you can see that all the way through her shuttle bus conversion. She actually built and owns her own tiny house, but found it was too difficult to tow around. So she used the leftover materials from her THOW build, along with other reclaimed items, to create a girly French-country-inspired mobile home she can take anywhere.
D loves her extensive, eclectic wardrobe, so she made sure to have room for it on the bus. She also brought along her entire plant collection, painted an adorable cow print soaking tub, and made sure her Squishmallows had a home in her twin-sized bed. She’s also a pole dancer, so she made a home for her pole inside the bus under her bed. Enjoy the tour below!
