One of the first things you’ll notice? This isn’t your average tiny home. It’s 14 feet wide and 32 feet long, with a 14’x14′ screened-in porch that acts as a proper Florida room.

Inside, everything is on one level. No ladders. No lofts. Just easy-access living that flows from a spacious living room to a fully functional kitchen, a separate bedroom, and a luxurious full bath with double sinks, a large shower, and plenty of built-in storage.

Crystal’s Wide Tiny House in Florida

After raising three daughters in a traditional home that many would call a dream, Crystal made a bold choice: to trade excess for intention. She now lives in a 399 sq ft Escape Classic tiny home in sunny Florida.

“I cut over $2,000 a month from my expenses,” she shares in the video.

Crystal wanted a space that required less upkeep, offered more flexibility, and still gave her the privacy and comfort she was used to. And she nailed it.

Lessons from This Downsizing Journey

Crystal’s transition from a 7,000-square-foot home to 399 square feet offers insights for anyone considering dramatic downsizing:

  • Wide tiny houses feel significantly more spacious — 14 feet wide creates an open floor plan without the narrow-hallway feel
  • Main floor bedrooms eliminate accessibility concerns — No ladders or loft climbing means aging in place is possible
  • Screened porches extend living space in warm climates — The Florida room adds 196 square feet of usable outdoor area
  • Downsizing can cut expenses by thousands monthly — Crystal saves over $2,000/month compared to her previous home
  • Tiny house communities offer turnkey living — Lot rent including utilities and maintenance simplifies life
  • Full-size appliances don’t require full-size houses — The kitchen has everything needed for normal cooking
  • Double sinks and large showers fit in small bathrooms — Smart layout design creates luxury in small spaces
  • Less house means less maintenance and cleaning — More time for activities, less time on housework
  • Choosing fewer square feet doesn’t mean choosing sacrifice — Crystal’s home has everything she needs
  • Freedom from excess creates peace and clarity — The mental benefits of downsizing extend beyond finances

The price is ridiculous but I really like the floor plan.

I agree the price is way to high.

Thanks, Maria! 😊 I hear you — some of these models can definitely get pricey depending on materials and customization. The good news is, there are still lots of builders offering more budget-friendly options, especially for DIYers or shell builds.
