Antoinette loves to travel and had been living abroad in Spain since 2013. She even started an international travel abroad company for minority teens and young adults. But then 2020 happened and she had to go back to the States.
Once back “home,” she decided to jump into #vanlife, even though she said it wasn’t really a “thing” the black community did. But now she’s an inspiration for other black women who want to travel solo in a van. She had a professional company design and outfit her van, and it’s awesome!

Originally Mark wanted to build a tiny house on wheels, but when talking to his brother he realized that a standard THOW would be hard to travel with so he chose his short bus instead!
With the bus, he’s been able to go to so many places and get amazing experiences. He’s even more of an inspiration because he doesn’t consider himself handy at all! “I measure 3 times and cut 4 then head back to the store and pick up more supplies.” Who can relate?

Stephanie found out she had to leave her apartment in the midst of the pandemic. She says without that happening she probably never would have been brave enough to buy a bus and convert it with her wood-working mom into her full-time home. But life threw lemons and she made — a tiny house!
She and her two bunnies now live in the bus and she carves spoons and bowls for a living! I love that she paid attention to her values in the build, and made sure to have space for entertaining and hospitality even though it’s a tiny home.

An awkwardly-shaped piece of city-owned property went from an abandoned lot, to a colorful village of 39 tiny homes built to give temporary shelter to some of the city’s homeless population. Each home is 64 square feet, and there are shared laundry facilities on site.
Units cost $7,500 each, including labor and materials, and were shipped as ready-to-assemble stacks of panels from builder Pallet Shelter in Everett, Washington. The total cost of the project was about $5 million, according to Kerkorian’s office, with the majority spent on re-routing water, power, and sewer lines to the site. Hope of the Valley gets a $55 per person daily reimbursement from the city to cover three meals and social services for residents.

Thomas has owned this 153-year-old Methodist Retreat Cottage in Glyndon, Maryland for 25 years, and has pictures of his great-grandfather and family from nearly 100 years ago spending time at the 13×40 cottage.
Now the cottage acts as a “man cave” for Thomas and his son, and as a vacation spot they rent out to interested parties. The interior is so unique, with art and items from five generations of family. You can sleep in a normal bed, or how about a prairie wagon?
