Post-Breakup Van Adventure with her Cat 3

Allison realizes it sounds cliche, but after a tough breakup she found herself wondering what to do next with her life. She didn’t have anything holding her down and had always wanted to start her own business, so that breakup launched her into a new van lifestyle!

She had a budget, though, and she stuck to it. Including the purchase of the van itself, she spent just $25K to create her tiny home on wheels. It’s decked out with everything needed to keep her cat safe and happy, as well, including a litter box and room for a cat stroller.

Enjoy the Tiny Home Tours interview below.

Bed+Bough Whimsical Treehouse 26

While off-grid vacations are fun, it’s nice to stay in a treehouse with all the amenities, including a tiled indoor shower and — yes — a flush toilet!

This craftsman-built treehouse has funky a-symmetrical wall and a wonky window to add a bit of character. But there’s a leather couch, comfortable queen bed in the loft, and even a pulley for lifting your luggage. The live-edge counter tops and woodland accents make this stay both cozy and luxurious. Heronbrook Hideaway New York Aframe Vacation 5

A-frames — like yurts — hold a special place in my heart. The unconventional structures aren’t necessarily the most efficient use of space, but they look awesome and give a great feel. This particular A-frame is 200 square feet and sits on a 30-acre woodland plot in New York.

It’s entirely off-grid, but a Cubic Mini woodstove and solar lights let you enjoy comforts, and it’s definitely a step-up from tenting with the king-sized bed. There’s a fire pit outside, as well as a nearby outhouse. What a perfect place to unplug and truly rest!

You can book a stay on Airbnb.

Her Awesome Truck Camper w Shower & Toilet

You might think living on top of your truck would be extra cramped, but Chrissy proves it’s not true with her fantastic 2020 Capri camper that sits on top of her 2011 Chevy Silverado.

I don’t think I’ve seen a micro space this tiny that includes a 32″ indoor shower, but Chrissy’s does! She also has a little kitchenette with a microwave, fridge and a two-burner stove. While her bed doesn’t have the most headroom, it’s a queen size allowing her to really spread out!

Enjoy her interview with Tiny Home Tours below.

Former Paramedic Firefighter in his Overlandbulance 3

This is Jason (he goes by “Happy”) and his “Overlandbulance” — a converted ambulance with a 4×4 kit designed to go wherever Happy wants to!

After an injury forced him to retire from firefighting — his dream job — Happy had to figure out where to go from that point. Others encouraged him to do whatever he wanted, and eventually he took the plunge and purchased an ambulance at auction for $11,000.

Inside his rig you’ll find a peel-and-stick subway tile backplash, cedar plank roofing, and tons of garage space. I appreciate how honest Happy is about the challenges of #vanlife in his interview with Tiny Home Tours (posted below).

Family of 5 Full-Time Overlanding in Bert 4

Our reader Howard reached out this week after meeting this awesome family of 5 who live full-time in their “overlander” named Bert. This incredible vehicle has two huge slide outs that make this tiny house quite spacious.

It features two bunks and a pull-out bed for mom and dad. Their oldest child sleeps in a built-in bunk in their trailer which they haul with them around the country. Not long into their journey, the husband ended up breaking his leg in a motorbike accident, but they are plugging along despite the set-back.

You can follow the family’s adventures on their YouTube channel, and enjoy their video tour below!

Tonga Modern Catskills Cabin 16

If you’ve ever thought about purchasing a home from ESCAPE, you should book a stay in this ESCAPE-built tiny house that sits in a woodland clearing in the Catskills.

The interior is very true-to-ESCAPE, without much embellishment, and therefore stunning. Personally I love the catwalk that connects the two lofts. That makes it easy for a family to have a vacation there and still have access to the kids. Enjoy the photo tour below, book your stay on Airbnb, and learn about ordering your own ESCAPE tiny house below!

Octagon Water Forest Retreat in Connecticut 11

Here’s an awesome 144 square foot tiny house that’s similar to a yurt. The wooden octagon is a lovely private getaway secluded on 100 acres of wild land.

There’s a comfortable bed inside the cabin, along with an electric fireplace that keeps the place warm. A heated outhouse nearby houses a composting toilet.

Wait until you see the craftsmanship on the ceiling of this yurt! Check it out on Airbnb.
