$139,800?! The appeal of tiny houses is that they’re supposed to be affordable! What happened?

Nothing, affordable is just relative to what you want to get and what trade offs you’re willing to accept.

Just understand that’s not going to be the same for everyone, people choose what’s affordable for themselves and not other people, and what’s equivalent for a larger home would cost a lot more… Custom built high end home built with the same attention to details as this time home can run up to the multiple millions for apple to apple comparison. So still cheaper for what is equivalent…

Choices will always matter to price, tiny just makes it easier but doesn’t change the effects of those choices…

Hi Kyla, thanks for your comment! I understand that $139,800 might seem surprising given tiny houses’ reputation for affordability. Several factors can contribute to this price, like quality materials & craftsmanship, custom design, inflation, and rising costs. We value your perspective and continuously work to balance quality and affordability in our blog posts. Thanks again for engaging with us!

I agree with Kyla. Tiny houses were suppose to be affordable. Now builders have gotten greedy. They charge more than double the cost of materials and labor. Yes they need to make a profit. But making 4 times the profit is high. The cost of materials have not gone that high to charge those prices.
