Scott and Susan Burbank, originally “boat people” from the Pacific Northwest, spent four years traveling the country in a converted semi-truck before deciding to settle down in Tucson, Arizona. Instead of a traditional house, they purchased a budget-friendly manufactured home in an RV park and completely rebuilt it into a 600-square-foot custom residence designed for flexibility and to accommodate Scott’s 6’7″ height.

Infinite Reconfigurability
The “XLT” (Xtra Large Tinyhouse) is designed with almost nothing bolted down. Most of the furniture, including cabinets and counters, are on rollers. This allows the 600-square-foot space to transform seamlessly to suit their needs—whether they need a walk-in pantry, a massive closet, a sewing studio, or even a dining room that can seat twelve people.
Custom DIY Design
To make the movement possible, the floors are finished with paper, creating a smooth surface that allows heavy movable components to slide easily. Susan built much of the interior herself, including the couches and a custom Murphy bed with a handmade mattress to ensure Scott is comfortable despite his height.
Indoor/Outdoor Living
The home even features a movable kitchen that can roll into their “Arizona room,” an added side space, allowing for an indoor/outdoor cooking experience. By building within an RV park, their home technically qualifies as an RV, providing them with a legal way to live tiny within city limits.

Impressive. I love it, unbelievable well thought, multifunctional and resource friendly. Of course it’s not for everybody but for those who like Bauhaus style with a simple, square and geometric design.
the only thing I would change is the sitting benches. I would prefer foldable chairs for dining and lounging.
Good idea, thanks, Michael. Glad to hear you enjoyed it like I did. I would totally seriously consider a similar setup in the future. I love how the park model part of it makes it affordable, and how they decided to finish the interior is so creative, beautiful, and functional.
You lose me with just video stories. I keep saying that. Gonna look elsewhere.
I think this one is really worth watching. Very creative! Thanks for the feedback. I’ll see if I can get some stills posted.
