This is the story of a man who built his first tiny cottage on wheels. It has dormers and a covered front porch. It’s really nice, especially for his first build, don’t you think? I ran into this originally over at Reddit where the man’s son posts, “My dad’s first attempt at a tiny house, he’s pretty darn proud of it!”

So I wanted to share this creative tiny home on wheels with you here thinking it might inspire you and maybe even cause you to reconsider your future tiny/small house design? Who knows, right? I really like the dormers and the front porch on this house. This man must be a pretty good carpenter because I see a lot of attention to detail which gives the home a lot of character, don’t you think?

This is the ultra-portable Elaine Cabin tiny house on wheels built by Rich Daniels of Rich’s Portable Cabins.

In the past, I’ve shown you one of his park model tiny houses and another ‘extra long’ tiny house built by him as well. They’re both really cool and he’s built quite a lot of little portable homes. The home is about 8′ wide and 22′ long so approximately 176 sq. ft. of space. What do you think?

I had to share this story with you on a couple who has been living simply in a tiny house for the last six months and counting.

Christopher Derek and Betty Ybarra have been living in this micro cabin since December 2013. And it’s all of just 98 sq. ft.

The formerly homeless couple now have a solid roof over their heads. They park on the street and are required to move every two days to be compliant with city laws.

I’ve been wanting to introduce you to ShelterWise‘s 96 sq. ft. Salsa Box Tiny House on wheels so here it is. You might like this mobile micro cabin if you want a cozy and compact micro home for simple living and occasional traveling because it’s an easy to tow tiny home.

The one you’re seeing here is the 12′ model but it’s also available in 16′ and 20’ lengths. And everything about it works pretty much just like an RV (30 amp hookup and water connections). What might surprise you is what’s inside (full bathroom, kitchen, and queen bed for sleeping).

So you’re building a tiny house on a trailer. Great!

Or you might be seriously considering it.. Either way, you’re at the right place.

By now you have probably already got your trailer and materials and you’re far beyond the planning stage.

Before you get started it’s important that you’ve selected the best construction site possible so that you can level your trailer and get ready for construction.

One of our wonderful readers, Sandra, sent me her recently completed designer inspired tiny house on wheels. She is not planning on living in it full-time, instead, it’s a really inexpensive vacation home that’s 100% insulated with vapor barriers.

Since Sandra lives in the wilderness, parking is no issue for her. The tiny house gets parked on the shore of the Great Slave Lake on a private campground. By next year, she hopes to have it hooked up with solar panels. All the lighting is LED and the refrigerator is so small that it uses very little electricity. The fireplace is electric but Sandra notes that she hardly has to use it since cooking and some body heat keeps the place relatively warm.
