This tiny house story is a guest post by Stephani – share yours!
I’m building a 18 foot long tiny home. I retired from the military less than a year ago and was not sure what I wanted to do when I grew up.
So I decided to build a tiny house that I will eventually live in while attending college in Texas using my military benefits. Right now the house is being built in Nebraska.
Please enjoy, learn more and re-share below. Thank you!

This 144 Sq. Ft. Toy Box Tiny House is a guest post by Frank Henderson – share yours!
This tiny house is a custom design. Using reclaimed materials and high quality fixtures, the motto of this build was “Downsize and Upgrade”.
There is a spacious sleeping loft (7’x8′) and all of the windows are new and operable. The double patio door offers tons of natural light, and the loft windows create a nice breeze using stack effect.
The house is not set up to go off grid, but can be hooked up to a solar powered system. We have installed a solar vent to keep constant air flow throughout the house.
The base of the house is surrounded by a planting trough in which flowers or succulents can be planted.
There is no toilet, because it was our thought process that a buyer might want something other than what we would provide. The house is plumbed in case you would want to add a water operating toilet (RV flushing toilet).
The trailer is a Tumbleweed, designed specifically for building tiny houses. It has working brakes and lights. Please enjoy, learn more and re-share below. Thank you!

This tiny house on wheels for sale is a guest post by Michael & Grace – share yours here!
This unique tiny portable studio was built as an additional bedroom but it can be used as an office, guest room, meditation nook, massage studio, vacation rental, or personal living space. It’s perfect for someone who wants privacy or their own inspirational space but doesn’t want the hassle of obtaining a permit to build. It was built by an incredibly gifted craftsman. Materials were carefully hand picked. We used it on our farm as our bedroom. It was nestled alongside the river during summer. We ran an extension cord from our barn for electricity. It was a wonderful relaxing retreat. Many people refer to our small space as a “sanctuary.” It’s a beauty.
This 8×16 handcrafted portable studio (120 square feet) sits sturdy on a double axle flatbed trailer made for us by Leonard. Non toxic products were selected and used for the inside from start to finish. We used all local wood. Poplar floors, handcrafted maple door with stain glass, non toxic insulation, american clay plaster walls (the plastered walls gives the studio a warm feeling), ceiling fan, cathedral ceilings, small loft for storage, passive solar energy efficient “Serious” Windows, wall electric heater, beautiful lighting features and excellent air flow with a window of each wall. Easy to hook up anywhere 110/120.

This Harvard start up for tiny house living is a guest post by Pete Davis – share yours!
I am Pete Davis, one of the co-founders of Getaway, the first and only tiny house startup to come out of Harvard University’s Innovation Lab.
We build tiny houses, place them on beautiful rural land and rent them by the night to city dwellers looking to escape the digital grind and test-drive tiny house living.
We just launched our first Getaway house in the Boston area. We call it The Ovida.
“Ovida was dear to us; the Grandmother of any kid’s dreams. She loved without limit and doled out snacks to help us sit still in church. It was by her side that we first learned to play solitaire and how to cross-stitch. She carried us to her own bed when we fell asleep on the couch, and she cooked up the meanest lefse in the Midwest. Ovida’s house was our Getaway growing up, just as we hope The Ovida can be your Getaway now.” – Getaway

What does “living simply” really mean? That was one of the questions on Aldo Lavaggi’s mind when he set out to design and build his own tiny house on wheels. He purposefully chose a very simple design with no running water and no shower, curious about how it would feel to carry in his own water, and how difficult it would be to shower at friends’ houses instead.
But a simple design doesn’t necessarily mean a spartan one. He also designed a space for a collapsible hammock chair to provide “squishy comfort”, which can be rare in tiny houses with lots of built-in wood seating. He installed solar panels as his primary energy source, and used several large and interesting windows so the house could be heated by the sun as much as possible, a technique called “passive solar” heating, even in the cold winters of New York State. He also rigged a retractable stepladder to his sleeping loft, and added an external storage area over his trailer hitch as a small shed for tools.

This 160 sq. ft. tiny house is a guest post by Joseph Clark – share yours!
My name is Joseph Clark, and I own a small company called Shibui Woodworking in the Portland Oregon area. I’ve recently been enamored with the idea of tiny homes, and so I built one myself.
I just finished up the exterior, and I’m looking to sell it to someone who either wants to finish the interior themselves, or commission me to finish it to their exact needs and specifications. The asking price for the tiny house shell is $27,700.
Price reflects current condition, exterior finished only. If you would like to finish the interior yourself, I can provide advice and guidance. Or I’d be happy to custom finish the interior to reflect your desired use and personal taste. This solid little structure has endless possibilities; guest house, office, art studio, or permanent abode.

This is a guest post by Trevor Gay @heartofitallhouse – share your tiny house!
Much like everyone else who’s built their own home or Tiny House, it’s a bittersweet feeling to see the project come to completion. So many long nights and weekends of pouring your family, your friends, and your own blood, sweat, and tears into a project– that it finally comes to life.
After nearly 5 years of contemplation between layouts, designs, and even if the lifestyle was right…. We finally found hOMe. I had stumbled across the Morrison’s house and without a doubt, knew immediately that their house was the closest thing to what I had been searching for.
We literally counted down the seconds for the plans to be released on the TinyHouseBuild.com website. My girlfriend at the time (now fiancé) Mary and I sat a table in our local EarthFare to buy the plans. We bought our trailer from the kind family at Tennessee Tiny Homes in October, and started the build 1 week before Christmas 2014.
