This is Nate and Jen’s tiny home on wheels. It originally started out as a camper that Nate bought which they later dismantled, refurbished, and built this beautiful tiny home on.

The trailer is 8’3″ by 24’10” and he used 2x4s instead of 2x8s for floor joists to decrease the home’s weight. Isn’t it incredible how simple a home could really be if you go back to the basics, sort of like this?

This is a little story about a tall tiny house with a covered porch and a tall loft. Since it’s not built on a trailer with wheels, you’re allowed to build taller since you never have to worry about driving under a bridge.

This is nice because you can actually stand up when you’re up in the sleeping loft so you don’t feel so cramped as many do in lofts where the tiny homes are built on wheels and have road restrictions. So what do you think? Are you going to build your tiny like this or on wheels?

Have you seen Chris and Malissa’s Tiny Tack House before? Their tiny house is AWESOME.

One of my favorites because it’s a couple’s tiny house and Chris is a photographer. The latest tiny house that Chris has gotten to photograph from what I understand is Yan’s tiny tack house, shown below.

And Chris Tack’s photos are always amazing. To build this one they used a set of Tumbleweed Fencl plans. And they made some modifications to it. They even set up a pull-down screen and projector for movies.

When you walk in you’re greeted by a beautiful fireplace. To the right, there’s a little nook to hang out in with storage above and below. Vaulted ceilings and windows make it feel spacious.

This is a stick built 144-square-foot loft tiny house on a trailer. It was built by Steve Garcia and is located in Beeville, Texas. It was built on an 8 x 16 dual axle BigTex utility trailer. It’s got cedar tongue and groove siding which turned out beautiful. All windows are double pane and the roof is metal. The inside of this tiny home has bamboo flooring and built in cedar shelving. The house consists of:

  • a little kitchen,
  • loft that fits a queen-sized bed,
  • windows and a ceiling fan,
  • standard size shower,
  • toilet,
  • and tankless hot water heater.

This tiny solar house was designed and built by the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society. I found them on Facebook not long ago and wanted to share their tiny home with you because it has three Silicon Energy PV modules, solar air heat, and even solar hot water.

The SIP (Structural Insulated Panels) came from The Chuba Company who you can also find on Facebook. If you’re not familiar with SIPs, check out this post. A company called Applied Energy Innovations also helped with the construction of this tiny house. It’s 8′ x 16′ and has additional storage in the back to store power with batteries. There’s also extra room there for hot water storage and any other extra systems.

This article will show you how one couple built their very own mortgage-free small house for $5,900 and how you might be able to do the same using reclaimed materials that are inexpensive and many times completely free. All it takes is your dedication and labor. I’m handing it over to Deputy Gene now. Thank you for reading. – Alex

My wife and I decided to build a small house as cheaply as we could as a weekend getaway. We had a relative who worked at a lumber supply house and would call us whenever they had seconds on sale. We purchased anything they had figuring we would need it eventually. We worked every weekend I had off and it took us a little over a year to finish. Here it is about four weekends into the project.

This tiny house on wheels is designed to serve a family of four. That’s pretty impressive at a foot print of 20′ by 8’6″, wouldn’t you agree? If you account for the 55 square foot sleeping loft, there’s a total of 215 square feet of living space inside. You can see the floor plan at the bottom of this post.

It’s called the Leaf House (Version 2) and it was created by Laird Herbert who’s from Whitehorse, Canada. This home was built using FSC (Forest Stewardship Certified) timber along with some reclaimed materials helping to make it as eco-friendly as possible. Since it was designed to be used in Canada, you can also be sure that it’ll withstand cold climates.

This tiny house documentary was created by Kirsten Dirksen, it’s called We the Tiny House People. In the last few years, we’ve gotten to see a lot of tiny house and simple living videos, and most of them are thanks to her.

Nobody has been more dedicated to bringing you closer and closer to these homes and their inhabitants than Kirsten Dirksen of Faircompanies.com. Her first interview was with Jay Shafer was approximately five years ago and it has now reached more than 1 million views.

Since then she has gone on to cover so much more, including Jenine Alexander’s self-designed and built $3,5000 tiny house made from recycled materials. After filming hundreds of hours worth of simple living footage- from people living in converted shipping containers, garages, houseboats, sheds, tree houses, and Airstream trailers- she has now released her first documentary (see below).

So here’s a tiny house you might have a dream about tonight. It’s from a builder called Molecule Tiny Homes. The most notable feature is the porch which flips up and down.

I like this feature because wherever you might land, you can easily extend your outdoor space without having to actually build a deck or anything. In addition, you get to maximize the interior space as much as possible since the porch flips out. This is something I’ve always wanted to see incorporated into a little house on wheels, so I was thrilled to see it.
