This is the story of a man who recycled a Boeing 727 commercial airplane into his very own mortgage-free home.
It may not be tiny, but it’s 100% recycled, making it a very green home! Have you ever considered the option of living in a recycled airliner? Probably not, but here is someone who not only thought it but did it!
It’s built using mostly reclaimed materials and features a kitchenette, full bathroom, queen loft, and queen nook! The little cabin is available to vacation in at Blue Moon Rising.
You’ll get to meet Bill Thomas, the founder, and designer at Hobbitat and designer/builder for Blue Moon Rising. You also get to tour and learn more about how these unique reclaimed tiny homes are built using materials that have to be mined out of old buildings. This is what gives them so much character! Enjoy!
Robin Hood’s Hideout is a tiny, storybook cottage made almost entirely of architectural salvage. Cedar, walnut, carved doorknobs, stained glass and a knightly chandelier are just a few of the 30+ vintage materials that charm this little bungalow. Our place is called Havenwald, which means “haven in the woods.” Oaks, cedars, wildlife and starry skies stay here. Tranquility, respect and kindness stay here. When you stay here, we hope you’ll discover why we say at Havenwald, magic stays here!1
Our Tiny Texas House is a beautiful Victorian cottage custom made from period reclaimed building materials. The attention to detail is astounding in this work of art. The cottage features vintage stained glass windows, antique wood floors and trim. Climb the ladder to the sleeping loft and sleep soundly in the plush king size bed. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the porcelain tub and shower.
