The Kidd Tiny Texas House
This couple works on movie sets, where Chloe serves as a stylist and Brandon as a carpenter. Typically the couple moves around a lot to take new jobs. So designing and building a portable tiny house on wheels made perfect sense for them.
Brandon said, “We could expand our job search to anywhere in North America, and we would never leave home again.”
Once they knew they would be building a tiny house they began collecting unwanted scraps from movie sets. And nine months and $10,000 later they built their amazing tiny home. Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you!

When this teenager needed to get out of the house, Molecule Tiny Homes came to the rescue to help the family build this 6×10 treehouse-inspired tiny home that’s 16′ tall!
Best of all, it was built using mostly scrap materials and reclaimed lumber. Even better, it only took them a week to finish it! Talk about professionals…

It’s every little girls/boys dream to have a majestic tree fort right in their backyard. For Lynn Knowlton, she made that dream a reality! Lynn, an Interior Designer, lives just outside of Toronto, Canada. She had always wanted a tree fort of her own and decided one day that she was going to make her wish a reality.
Lynn built the most amazing tree house on her property using 100% recycled materials. Even the wood that was used was taken from her friend’s barn that had been knocked down by a tornado. The windows came from various locations like an old church and old houses.
The tree house comes equipped with a gorgeous porch to relax on, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom and even a big red slide! It’s able to accommodate two adults, and get this….YOU can book it for a night or two if you wish! Lynn rents her beautiful fort out to anybody wishing for a tree house adventure! Talk about exciting! Bookings to stay in Lynn’s tree house can be made on her blog or on Trip Advisor.

Santarella Tiny Silo Cabin

This is the story of a 714-square-foot tiny cabin that was built as a guest house in Ross, California and designed by Dotter & Solfjeld Architects. It started out as an old barn on the lot that was beyond repair so they decided that they would recycle the wood and use it to build this!
From the outside, you’ll notice the beautiful rustic finish and the corrugated metal roof. I could just hear the relaxing sound of the rain from the inside where you find a cozy living area, kitchen, main floor bedroom, bathroom, and an additional sleeping or storage loft. Right now I’m thrilled to share this free documentary on the ‘Willy Wonka’ of reclaimed tiny housing thanks to Faircompanies.
This movie is on Brad Kittel of Tiny Texas Houses. When he came to Texas 30 years ago, he was living in a school bus converted into a home.
And he started buying boarded-up houses and fixing them up using repurposed materials salvaged from barns, old houses, and other buildings.

Hi Alex (and Tiny House Newsletter readers), I started my tiny shelter in December of 2013, it’s built on a 1965 Yellowstone Cavalier travel trailer frame that I got free from a neighbor.
Probably 75% of the lumber was cut and milled within one mile of where my tiny shelter is located.
A neighbor has a Wood Miser sawmill, two years ago we cut down three 60 ft. tall poplar trees, sawed it into 1″x6″x8′ and 2″x4″x8′ boards and dried them in his solar kiln for 3 months.

When you go inside you’ll find stained glass windows, antique wood floors, and a ladder that leads to a unique loft with a king sized bed.
