I always admire conversions like this barn to tiny cottage renovation.
I like them because they make great use of a structure that already exists.
In this case, what used to be a barn is now a beautiful little red cottage.
The best part is, it’s also available as a vacation rental (PS – have you checked out our new tiny house vacations section?) so you can stay in it if you want.
It’s a bed and breakfast in Portland, Oregon.

I’m so glad to add Pepper Clark’s tiny house in the Redwoods to our tiny house vacations section.

Wanted to show you this awesome treehouse micro cabin that was built with mostly reclaimed materials.
It was done by Derek “DEEK” Diedricksen of RelaxShacks.com, author of Humble Homes, Simple Shacks for one of his clients.
They wanted something for their kid to do homework in, hang out, and eventually so that maybe the parents can turn it into a tiny office.

I’ve seen this tiny house floating around on the Internet but I never knew where it came from.
Today I’m excited to introduce you to the Kingfisher by Jade Craftsman Builders.
It’s an 8′ x 18′ stick built mobile home which totals around 144 sq. ft. inside without including the loft.
It’s designed by Matthew Swett of Taproot Architects and built by JADE Craftsman Builders.

I’m excited to show you this modernized shed building system by the Walker Design Build group. It’s called the Flex Shed.
It’s made with SIPs (structurally insulated panels) and is custom designed and built for you by the company.
You can configure it to a variety of sizes so whether you want to live in it, use it as a guest house, or as some kind of hobby room.
When it’s done you receive the structure with wiring, flooring, windows, roofing and even interior built in furniture all done if you want to.

Shaye and Tom are a young couple who decided to design and build their own tiny house in West Auckland, New Zealand. It measures 7.2 meters long by 2.4 meters wide which translates to approximately 24′ x 8′. Or a total of 15 square meters (or 161 square feet).
They’ve only been living in it for two weeks as of the filming of the video tour and interview you can watch below thanks to the folks at Living Big in a Tiny House. What’s really inspiring is that the couple had never built anything like this before. They were able to learn most of what they needed by watching videos on the Internet.
What might be even more inspiring is that they’re only going to spend a total of about $20,000 to build it themselves. And that’s all with very high-quality materials used for the build.

Bette Presley, of Arroyo Grande, was already living relatively small before she decided to go tiny.
She downsized from her Grandmothers’ Club mobile home park into her own Tumbleweed Tiny House of just 166 square feet.
Part of the goal, she says, is to save her five adult children from having to go through all of her belongings when she passes.
Even better, she hopes she can completely avoid having to go into a nursing home and instead, just stay in her beautiful Tumbleweed cabin.

And they’ve been building they own mortgage-free tiny home on a 8×20 trailer.
It was designed in SketchUp and every little bit of the process has been documented on their blog.
The tiny house has everything you’d need, including:
