“York County Board of Supervisors has appealed a zoning board decision so that they may force a couple to remove their 415-square-foot home from a mobile home community.
Tom and Karen Rogers, who have lived in Bruton Park for several years in a different structure, said they had already purchased their custom-built home from LiL’ Lodges in Florida before they were told the home wouldn’t be permitted in the county. They bought the home with money they got after their fifth-wheel recreational vehicle, which was parked in the same community, was damaged by a tree, Karen Rogers said.

This man built a tiny log cabin with the help of friends for only $500 in the northern woods of Canada on a private plot of land.
He did it with no building codes because the land is privately owned and there are no permits required in his area for structures that are 10′ x 10′ or less. The front door used to be a coffee table. This is his first log cabin build and he’s already working on his second one.

This underwater tiny floating house is on the remote island called Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania near Tanga. This little floating cabin is at a place called Manta Resort.
It looks like a tiny floating home but it also has a rooftop deck. You’ll also find an incredible outdoor space to relax right on the water. There’s also an outdoor shower here and access to a bathroom. But it gets better..
When you go inside there’s even access to an underwater bedroom where you can sleep with the fishes (and manta rays). Please enjoy the entire tour and re-share below. Thank you!

The Wright Way – Tiny House Construction & Building Tips With Curt Lyons #1
I have been talking with Alex about doing a series of building tips for people building their first tiny house. Admittedly, I am currently building my first tiny house, however I have years of professional construction and teaching experience to share with you. I have built log homes, done historic preservation, additions, new construction and home repairs. I also started a company that specializes in helping home owners get involved in their own projects, knowing they have professional hand holding help. In all this time I learned a lot about streamlining a building process, building safely, problem solving, and helping people become more empowered.
As I began construction of my own tiny house and found myself taking advantage of what I already knew, as well as my own head scratching moments, it reminded me how daunting this process must feel to first time home builders, and it seemed like a great opportunity to be able to help. Many of these lessons, I learned the hard way, and would be happy to help you skip that path by learning from my mistakes.
Curt’s Tiny House Building Tip #1
So we’ll start with my first tip.

This 172 sq. ft. Tumbleweed Mica Tiny House on Wheels is 20 feet long.
The outside is finished with hot rolled steel. Over time it oxidizes and gives it a rustic look and feel that’s easy to maintain.
The Mica is designed with the wheels completely under the house which helps give the ability to easily install a sliding glass door.
It’s a one level tiny house design without an upstairs sleeping loft. So if you don’t like ladders and still want to go tiny, something like this might be a good option.
