If 2020 has been a rough financial year for you, it might be time to consider going tiny in an RV! Sara and her family did just that 2 years ago, and it’s helped them go from living paycheck to paycheck on rent, to having spare money in their budget to enjoy life together.
Sara and James live in their RV with their teen daughter Maddy and littles Ezra and Eleanor. Maddy has her own private bunk room, while the younger two have an awesome queen-sized loft to call “home.” It’s a really cool set-up, and works great for a family with kids and a wider age gap.
They live on her parent’s land as they keep saving up for a forever home, but tiny living has proven a blessing despite it’s challenges (like no washer and dryer or dishwasher!). Sara shares their story at the end of the post, so be sure to read that! Follow the family on Instagram here.

Al works as a carpenter and Jessica works in PR, but when they come home at night, it’s to a cozy 55-foot-long narrowboat moored somewhere along the canalways of London.
Their narrowboat lifestyle allows them to live with a lower carbon footprint and get closer to nature, while still living in the city — the best of both worlds! And month-to-month their expenses are less than renting, although big-time expenses do pop up (like, you know, a new engine!).
While they’ve owned “Peace Frog” now for two years, they spent time on land after a fire burnt much of the boat, requiring a full renovation inside. Here’s another family proving you don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck to afford a pricey mortgage on a large home! They downsized from 2,500 square feet and have been living in an RV for two years now. In 2020 alone, they saved $30,000!
Mom Shannon says they won’t live in an RV forever, but it’s allowed them to follow her husband’s military jobs across the country, as well as travel with the family and sightsee all over the United States. They have far more time together, and are learning how to live minimally.

Luwan was dealt a bad hand, but she didn’t let that get her down. After a tough divorce, she chose to start over in her very own tiny house, built by Indigo River Tiny Homes. The house was tailored to her needs and wants, and the resulting 35 foot built is incredible.
She lives with her three dogs, and her home makes certain they have all they need. I love her bedroom loft, which allows her to stand upright on two sides of the bed. The builder even installed a fold-out stool to help her get in and out of her cushy bed.

We haven’t posted any shipping container homes in awhile, so I was excited to come across this gem that’s a vacation rental in Austin, Texas. The dusty blue exterior makes way for a sleek interior lined with lots of galvanized metal.
