Back when Danny and Joy only had one child, they were hoping to make a home of their own but weren’t in a place to purchase a home in Florida where they were living at the time. So when a school bus came up for sale in their area, they decided, “Why not?”

Their skoolie has two big built-in couches that face each other, a galley kitchen, a 3/4 bathroom, and a back bedroom with a “kids’ nook” underneath the main bed. Check out the interview we did with the couple, along with a photo tour of their space, below!

There are geodesic domes scattered across North America to stay in, but this one is particularly magical since it sits on the Nalu Retreat grounds in Nova Scotia, Canada. The private grounds are kept free from partying or loud carousing, designed to be a true respite from the busyness of what’s going on elsewhere.

The dome itself boasts 16-foot-high ceilings, a cozy electric fireplace, a 3/4 luxury bathroom, and amazing panoramic views of the Canadian forest outside. After crawling out of your cushy queen-sized bed, you can make a cup of coffee in the kitchenette and sit in patio chairs on your private deck overlooking the grounds. There’s a mini hot tub, a fire pit, and even a loft space for stargazing. What do you think?

Treehouses are always incredible, but one designed by Pete Nelson of the Treehouse Masters TV show is extra remarkable! Unlike many tree houses you’ll find today, this one is solely supported by the surrounding trees and sways with them. The treehouse is located in Coupeville, Washington. It has a first-floor bedroom and a loft area with a sizeable daybed-like couch that you could also sleep on.

There’s a galley kitchen area with essential appliances (no large oven) and a sitting area that opens up to the porch via big French doors. The large deck has a spot for a hammock and a gas grill. Inside, there’s a bathroom with standard plumbing for a toilet and a full-sized shower stall. Enjoy incredible views and a private spot in the trees.

Brittainy and Ryan met about a year before they moved onto the boat. It was initially Ryan’s idea, and Brittainy wasn’t sure about it, but came around to the concept once she saw what that life would look like. Now they’re in year seven of life on the water! While they have a marina spot in Seattle, they also take the boat “on the sea” to explore remote Pacific Northwest islands.

They share their boat with two full-size dogs, but it’s quite spacious inside. There are two bedrooms, and two bathrooms — one of each is used primarily for storage. A queen-sized bed fits comfortably in the main berth, and they have added a hanging rack to keep clothing unwrinkled. Enjoy their tour below!

Janelle has been working as a naturopath for the past 13 years, and while she still loved her work, she was ready for a new adventure! One thing led to another, and she found herself moving to a rural permaculture farm and setting up a mini homestead and off-grid tiny house on wheels.

In order to maximize her living space, Janelle has a huge covered porch off the front of her home that also wraps around the side. It took her a little while to settle in and find a new community once she moved, but now she can welcome up to 12 guests to eat and hang out on her deck! The inside of the house is beautiful, as well, with natural tongue-and-groove timber walls, a spacious bathroom, and a large kitchen where she can prepare healthy meals.
