Designed in nature and eco friendly I’m happy to share with you the Tye River Cabin located in Skykomish, Washington. The architects, Olson Kundig, designed this cabin with large windows and glass doors for entertaining and inviting the outdoors in. I feel these features give the modern river cabin a more natural feel.
The cabin is compact yet cozy and fully equipped with a kitchen, living room with a fireplace, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Check out this 3-story 624 sq. ft. house in Japan. The architects, Takahashi Maki and Associates, call it the “White Hut and Tilia Japanica”. Set in a older residential community this small house sits much higher than it’s neighbors.
The large windows of the home give the owner views of the surrounding area. Heading inside the house you would find on the ground floor the bedroom with space for a small desk. On the second floor you will find the kitchen, dining and living area.
The top level would be my favorite. Along not pictured here that is where you would find a large and luxurious bathroom. Would this type of small house design work for you?

I’m excited to share with you the Sundance wagon cabin. Off the beaten path you will find this wild west inspired cabin that you can spend a holiday in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The design of this cabin looks perfect for a couple to live simply.
Let’s explore this wild west wagon cabin. As you walk up the stairs to the outdoor deck there is a space to relax and enjoy yourself outside. Then going inside you will see the spacious kitchen to your right. And to the left you will see the living area with a cozy fireplace. Through the living room you will go into the bedroom and bathroom both of which look amazing. There is another outdoor area off the bedroom. If you ever find yourself planning a trip to Azay-sur-Cher, France (about 3 hours south of Paris) you could rent this 252 sq. ft. gypsy caravan cabin.
It’s location is not far from Loire castles and royal city of Amboise. This cabin is just the right size for two people staying on a holiday.
As you walk up the stairs to a small porch you enter the cabin through glass French doors. In the living area you will see the full-functioning kitchen, dinner table and small couch to relax.
Towards the back of the cabin you will find the bathroom and master bedroom. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink.
The large deck outside provides great space to sit and enjoy the scenery.

This two-level cabin or F House is 979 sq. ft and certainly big enough for a small family. The outdoor patio provides extra space for gathering with family and friends.
The design is minimalist mixed with modern. As you go inside through the large glass doors you will be right in the kitchen.
The living room, dining area and bathroom are also on the lower level of the cabin.
The large patio glass doors provide the kitchen with plenty of natural sunlight.
I really love the bathtub because it can be lit up with LED lights, allowing it to glow from within. Pretty cool!

I wanted to share this small house located in Seaside, Florida with you.
Although it’s 1,035 sq. ft. which is much bigger than most houses seen on here this two bedroom/two bath with a sleeping loft is worth taking a look at.
It seems like a great small space design for a family of 6?

Going into the house through the French doors you are immediately in the living area which has nice vaulted ceilings.
The living room, dining area and kitchen are lined against the left side of the house with the two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the right side of the house. One of the bathrooms even leads to an outdoor shower.
There are two different ladders that take you up to the sleeping loft where shown here there are three more beds.
I love the look and feel of this classic Florida cottage. Having a large porch can provide additional space for the entire family to hang out together.

In search of a more simple life and completeness, the couple, Michael and Diana lived in a 144 square foot tiny home in Northern California for seven years. They feel their house was not tiny but just right for them.
The tiny house does not feel small as you will see below. The natural sunlight and surrounding trees there are magical.
Diana says you enter a timeless time here. And it’s easy to forget about everything but the present moment.
The fireplace is a necessity in this home as it creates heat for the home and bathing water.
With no electricity which means no refrigerator, no meat, no ice cream Diana would cook beautifully colored fresh vegetables in one small cast iron pot over the open fire for their meals.

I’m excited to share with you how two friends took a tiny studio apartment in Brooklyn and transformed it into a 2 bedroom apartment with plenty of space to host dinner parties and musical events.
The guys say the most rewarding part of this whole project is that they did it all themselves which always feels great.
By using mostly reclaimed materials and designing and building their own unique furniture they turned this space into a great place they can proudly call home.
Words can’t justify how cool this Brooklyn flat really is. So check it out for yourself below.
