We love when we find people who are out there really living their dream and making things happen!
I want you to meet John and Amy of Tiny House of the South.
They are building a 24 ft tiny house on wheels. Why? So they can live debt free, travel and to live the life they dream of.
It all began for them in 2010 when Amy saw Jay Shafer’s blog that inspired them to build a tiny house on wheels of their own. The sheer beauty and simplicity of the whole tiny living idea was fascinating to Amy and soon, John, too.
“Once she stumbled across the tiny house movement, Amy realized that it could be a way to build a better future. Her conviction for a simpler way of life was the infectious catalyst to start living the tiny dream, and now she works to share that dream with anyone who will listen.” – Tiny House of the South
They attended a hands-on workshop with Dan Louche of Tiny Home Builders. And by 2013, they began saving and planning to build the ultimate tiny house on wheels for themselves.
The tiny house is not done yet but we can continue to follow the progress on their website and Instagram.

It’s the simplicity of this small house that draws me to share it with you. The way the space is open with no hallways maximizes the living area of the entire home.
This particular casita (translates to: cottage or small home) is home to the resident caretaker of the vineyard on the property.
It’s part of a larger renovation project soon to come. You have all the basics here: a kitchen, dining area with living space, two bedrooms and bathroom. What do you think of this simple small house?

Is it a shipping container converted into a modern small house? Nope, it’s a 550 sq. ft. modern prefabricated house located in Alicante, Spain.
Combining the collaborated efforts of architect, Daniel Martí i Pérez of DMP Arquitectura and designers, Jurgen Van Weereld and Karin Giesberts, they created and built this house.
They decided to build this prototype prefab house to test their ideas for more sustainable and affordable housing. By using light weight prefabricated panels they help speed up the construction process by not having to use heavy equipment or tons of labor.
To keep cost low they went with a rectangular shaped house which at first I thought it was a shipping container.
In this small space they managed to fit a master bedroom, second room/study, bathroom and kitchen. With of course plenty of outdoor space for hanging out or dining al fresco.

This one-person off grid cross shaped tiny cabin is a prototype Tbilisi, Georgia based architect, Dachi Papuashvili designed.
This type of dwelling could be used as a spiritual retreat, writer’s getaway or off grid cabin.
The design consist of two insulted shipping containers that would be clad with wood.
It would be a four-level structure with special areas for writing, meditation, rest, storage and cooking.
The cabin would also have a composting toilet, rain water collection, and solar panels to make it completely off grid.
Let’s take a look at this off grid tiny cabin one might call hOMe. 🙂

Located in the Hype Park historic district of Tampa this two-story garage was designed and built by Historic Shed.
They completely renovated the existing one-story garage to include what you see now, a two-story one car garage with a 240 sq. ft. cottage.
As you will see in the pictures below the cottage is nicely done with wood flooring and big enough for a guest house, mother-in-law suite or at-home office.

I’d like to share with you this prefabricated tiny hexagonal dwelling designed by Hivehaus. You could say it also looks like a honeycomb shaped house. Prefabricated models are built so you can have just one pod or add as many as you like. Each pod is 100 square feet and available with customizable floor plans.
The pods are delivered in panels making it easy for two people to construct the home. What you see below are three pods placed together to create a 333 sq. ft. home with one bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen and living space. The kitchen has a great multi-functional cabinet that tucks everything out of eye when you are not using it. And check out the fire wall. It’s a movable wall, like a door, with a fireplace that allows you to have it either inside or outdoors. What do you think of this tiny house design?

For Alex Kennedy, this tiny studio in her mother’s backyard garage is perfect for her needs. Plus she is able to have her own home without paying expensive property taxes somewhere else in Melbourne, Australia. Converting this old two-car garage in her childhood home back yard makes this space even more special. And how much better can it get living next to the family?
With the help of designer Sarah Trotter of HEARTH Studio, she was able to turn this garage into what you see below a functional yet cozy cottage for herself to call home. Large glass French doors open up to the garden giving Alex a beautiful view all the time. Almost all materials that went into redesigning and converting this garage into a livable tiny home were salvaged materials.

Situated just outside of Stockholm, Sweden you can vacation in this awesome bus converted into cabin with a rooftop deck.
I think this is by far my favorite bus conversion I have come across.
Once you check it out for yourself I think you will love it too. The vibe here is funky meets cozy.
The rooftop deck seems to be a wonderful spot to hang out, eat and drink.
The couple, Jon and Stina, converted this bus a while back and decided why not rent it out.
Besides the cool deck there is plenty of space to chill inside the bus with up to 4 twin size beds.
