I’m excited to share this tropical tiny house with you. I’d love living here, how about you? The private one bedroom guest house is located in Topanga Canyon, California. And it’s available to rent through Airbnb. The surrounding property is lush with greenery, secluded patio areas, hammocks and daybed. I can imagine the daybed out front being very cozy on a lazy afternoon.

Inside the tiny cottage is a living area and open kitchen. The one bedroom is just off from the living room. And the bathroom is awesome because of the rock shower… And don’t miss the outdoor seashell bathtub. The interior walls of the home are a mix of rocks and bamboo weaving. If you are looking to take a creative tiny house vacation in the San Francisco Bay area I think you’re going to love this tiny treehouse cottage.

When you drive up to the property and park your car you’ll see there is a small cottage on the ground level and that’s where the kitchen and bathroom are located.

Take a short walk up and go up the stairs surrounded by lush greens and wild flowers to the charming tiny treehouse that’s 30 ft up in a 150 year old oak tree.

The owners originally built the treehouse 18 years ago for their children. Now they rent it out to guests using Airbnb.

From the deck you can enjoy the San Francisco Bay sunsets from the tree tops.

Built back in the 1960s, this prefab house still stands strong today. Owner, Jens Risom, a legendary furniture designer, had this small house built on a seven acre plot of land located at the northern tip of Block Island, Rhode Island.

When he had the house built he knew exactly how he wanted it positioned on the lot to allow the most amount of sunlight inside. Risom says his favorite times of day are early morning and late afternoon.

The home is bolted down on a foundation to stay strong during winter winds and rough weather conditions. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sleeping loft, large living and dining area and kitchen.

At age 97, Risom still visits the island. There’s something peaceful about the island. It’s a unique feeling when you are there. Maybe because he has created so many family memories here over time. Now his grandchildren also come to visit the beach home.

Established in 1925, Camp Wandawega is located in Elkhorn, Wiscousin. It’s about a two hour drive from Chicago. The property has cabins, teepees, camping, bunk house and my favorite this three-level treehouse.

The treehouse was built around a massive elm tree. There are even branches going through the house and out the window. It’s three levels, with the first level being the hanging out area for eating an drinking outdoors, the second level is the main part of the house. And the third level the library loft.

It’s outfitted with Mason jar light fixtures, tree swings, and a hammock. Used as a common space for guests, one could enjoy reading a book in the loft library or take a afternoon nap in the hammock outside.

When staying at Camp Wandawega you get the full recreational camp experience. There is everything from a private beach, private fishing pier, hiking, boating, horse shoes, basketball, tennis, archery, campfires and so much more.

As Camp Wandawega says, “We’re not a proper resort by a long shot. We’re just carrying on the tradition of connecting people to the simple pleasures of simpler times.”

In the woods of Chappaqua, New York is this modern studio cabin. Designed by, Workshop APD, the team made this modern cabin blend beautifully with the surrounding area.

I can see this being a great weekend retreat spot or even office space to get away from the hustling city life. Or if you are an artist or author what a great space to get creative in.

In the bustling metropolitan area of Old Town Chicago is this cute cottage. It’s home to David Hawkanson, executive director of the Steppenwolf Theater Company.

In early 2007, shortly after becoming the executive director, Hawkanson realized it was time to put down some roots in the town. With the help of a local real estate agent he found this cottage.

Having to downsize to fit in this small home Hawkanson soon realized his new home was also a historic tourist attraction.

In this particular area, Menomonee Street, only this cottage and one other like it still exist. Back in the fall of 1871, thousands of lives and homes were lost in the Great Chicago Fire that lasted for two days.

To help the city recover from this tragedy the Chicago Relief and Aid Society offered homeowners who lost their homes in the fire a prefab housing kit to reconstruct their houses at an affordable rate of $75-100 depending on the size they choose. Sometimes it was even given away for free.

Fast forward in time to 2002, the cottage has been updated with current modifications but has still kept its small size and charm. Hawkanson acquired the property in 2007 at a mid-six figure range.

Now the cottage is somewhat of a tourist attraction. For Hawkanson he has come to terms with the local tour guides to give him more privacy.

Hawkanson says, “I threatened to get out the garden hose”. It seems to have worked.

This is truly a charming French country house. I’m excited to share it with you because I really love this design and layout. And I think you will too.

From the front of this French country home it seems rather small but once you go inside everything is very open and spacious. The glass windows at the top of the gable roof allows tons of sunlight to pour inside the living area making the space seem bigger than it really is.

The interior walls are wrapped in wood giving this country home a warm cozy feel. Check out the spiral stair case to the sleeping loft.

Everything about this country house is simple and pure. I hope you enjoy chekcing out this petite french country house.
