This is the story of Pax, a tiny floating cottage restored and rebuilt by Jason and Cayley.

It was originally one of the twenty-five boats built in Victoria, Canada for Expo ’86. They were able to acquire the ship for under $6,000 since it was in need of a complete rebuild. The two, one being a professional carpenter and the other a shipwright were able to turn the unwanted barge into a beautiful floating cottage inspired by the tiny house movement. After, they lived happily in it for a time but are now parting ways with Pax and entering a new phase in life and so the floating home is on the market! Learn more below.

Have you ever considered staying in a houseboat or maybe even living in one? Well, this floating cottage near Marco Island could be someone’s chance to try it out.

It’s an off-grid getaway houseboat in Southwest Florida called Jumana – the Silver Pearl and it’s available to book on Airbnb via Genevieve. What would be your favorite part about staying in a place like this? For me it’s easy. It would be the nature. Getting to watch the birds, pelicans, dolphins, and of course, the sunrise and sunset.

This beautiful home is a part of a floating house community in Seattle called Portage Bay. The design is inspired by the American Craftsman style of architecture and is one of eight homes that shares a dock and some land reserved for parking.

Entering this 960 square foot home, you will pass through the foyer, the kitchen, and the dining area to get to the living room. With its many windows offering views of the water, the living room looks and feels open. The living room also has vaulted ceilings and a fireplace. If you wish to enjoy the outdoors, you can exit the house through sliding patio doors to access the lower level deck.

This house has two bedrooms—a master bedroom suite upstairs which has its own roof deck. The second bedroom is on the lower level, near the living room. It can also be used as a study or a home office. Both rooms have their own attached bathrooms.

One of our amazing readers, Mindy Lee, spotted this Floating Cottage Home in Estero Bay which is just north of me in Florida.

Mindy was able to circle around it on her boat and capture some photos for us. Unfortunately, we don’t have any interior shots to share but I wanted to start by sharing this and seeing if I can somehow find out more.

Our big thanks to Mindy Lee for sharing and I hope you enjoy and re-share below. Thank you!
