This is the story of a creative young lad who invented and built his own bicycle-powered ELEVATOR to get up to his tiny treehouse cabin which is built way up in the trees. Pretty incredible!

The story goes like this… Ethan got sick of climbing the ladder dozens of times a day to and from his self-built treehouse. So he did what anyone who owns a self-built treehouse would do… (kidding?) He built a cheap DIY elevator out of a bicycle!

So now when friends visit they can simply use the ladder… Or they can have a lot more fun this way. In this post, you’re going to get to see Ethan’s DIY treehouse, his DIY elevator, and briefly, how it was done.

Swedish designers Inrednin Gsgruppen created the Bird’s Nest Tiny House in northern Sweden.

It’s a part of a hotel that’s up in the trees, camouflaged, and ready to relax in.

Unfortunately, it’s pretty expensive to stay at. But if you do have the money, it would likely be unforgettable (there are other cool shelters on site too).

Either way, you get to see it all right here in this post today almost just as if you were there.

And I couldn’t help but think to myself, hey, here’s one way we could get by codes/zoning for tiny housing (but I’m kidding of course).

From the outside it looks like an ostrich nest or maybe some kind of ancient flying dinosaur’s nest but when you go inside you find a modern and luxurious tiny cabin, see for yourself below:

I don’t consider this a treehouse although it’s a modern micro cabin on stilts (so it’s similar to one).

But Rockefeller Partners Architects call the project and shelter shown here the Banyan Treehouse.

I like the name because it’s like a modern take on the treehouse (using no living trees).

And since the shelter sits 12′ off the ground it still looks and feels like a treehouse.

It’s near downtown Los Angeles and just 170 sq. ft. in size.

The tiny house is built on steel stilts and it has a modern, minimalist and whimsical flair.

Wanted to show you this awesome treehouse micro cabin that was built with mostly reclaimed materials.

It was done by Derek “DEEK” Diedricksen of RelaxShacks.com, author of Humble Homes, Simple Shacks for one of his clients.

They wanted something for their kid to do homework in, hang out, and eventually so that maybe the parents can turn it into a tiny office.

Today I’m excited to show you this DIY treehouse cabin resort thanks to Kirsten Dirksen of Faircompanies.

There are currently three treehouse cottages on the property.

Not long ago I showed you the very first treehouse that the owner built on the property.

And they each have conventional bathrooms with toilets and water that go into a septic system.

This means they are all fully permitted and licensed.

Climb through the trails in the woods of Whistler and if you’re lucky you can find Joel Allen’s secret treehouse called The HemLoft.

It’s a wonderful modern micro cabin nestled on a tree surrounded by forest, greenery, and mountains.

Once you find it, the little round wooden steps lead you right inside the perfectly built modern micro home.
