Meet Torey and her dog Dandelion! They’re living in their very own tiny home in Austin, Texas for $950 per month.
Torey was tired of paying rent and not owning anything, but couldn’t afford the $400K homes for sale in Austin. So instead she put $5,000 down on an ESCAPE ONE tiny home built by ESCAPE that cost her $60,000 ($400/month loan). For an additional $550 a month she rents a beautiful lot in a mobile home park with a detached shed, water, and plenty of space for Dandy to run and roam.
The average rent price for Austin is more than $1,700 per month according to Zillow, so Torey is saving, living in the city she loves and getting a beautiful custom space to call her own. Check out the video tour below from Jenna of Tiny House Giant Journey!

This adorable itty-bitty tiny house on wheels has officially sold! Originally listed in the Phoenix, Arizona area for just $4,900, this charming tiny home quickly found its new owner.
The cozy space was filled with delightful character, offering just enough room for a couch that converted into a twin-sized bed (no loft!) and a beautiful, compact kitchenette with a sink and storage. The exterior also featured a handy storage shed, perfect for extra belongings.
Marsha, the previous owner, has retired and moved cross-country. Instead of transporting her beloved tiny home, she decided to sell it and build a new one at her new location.
Congratulations to the new owner of Marsha’s Itty Bitty THOW!

Just about three years ago we interviewed Brian and Alexis, the owners of the Juniper THOW they built with help from Backcountry Tiny Homes. The couple (and their dog) had just finished up the house at the time, but now they’ve been tiny-housing it for more than three years! We decided to get back in touch and see how tiny life has lived up to their expectations and changed their lives for the better.
While magazine-ready photos of THOWs are fun to look at, it’s great to see all of Brian and Alexis’ Instagram pictures (follow them @living_the_tiny_dream) showing what real life in a tiny house looks like. Because of choosing to live tiny, Brian has successfully paid off all his student loans (Congratulations!) and the couple pays less than $12 a quarter in electricity. That’s impressive!
Check out their real-life pictures in the photo tour below, and then find our Q&A with the couple at the end of this post.
