Concord (CA) High School students have completed the Construction Tech Program’s first Tiny House on Wheels.
With the help of our community partners Ashby Lumber, West Coast Windows and Doors, and Tumbleweed our goal is to make the program self-sustaining.
The class was able to learn all aspects of residential construction and the THOW was our culminating project.
The design is based on the Tumbleweed Cypress Equator 20′.
It’s just a fact that Japanese design is almost always better suited for tiny spaces than our “bigger is better” American style and that couldn’t be more true in this Japanese Tiny Home on Wheels!
Living Big in a Tiny House took a tour of the home with it’s now-owners who purchased it from a brilliant designer. The itty bitty home can easily fit in a parking space and yet includes a kitchen, sleeping space and seating for up to six people. All in all, it weighs no more than 600 kgs (around 1,200 lbs). I know we’ve shown you the SHEDsistence Tiny House plenty of times before, but builder and owner, Robert, just sent us this amazing time lapse of the entire build from trailer to finishings!
It’s about 8 minutes long and if you’ve ever wondered what it really looks like to DIY your entire tiny house, then it’s totally worth watching. Plus, it’s pretty mesmerizing since you aren’t doing any of the work!

This is one amazingly HUGE tiny house on wheels: The Purple Monster by Tiny Diamond Homes.
The home was built for a military family so they could take their house with them as they move. Even if purple isn’t your go-to color, you have to appreciate the lovely 10 x 10 master bedroom with large closets and a substantial desk. Other rooms include a spacious living area, kitchen with large appliances, and a loft bedroom (with a code-complaint railing).

This is the stunning Fanni Wohnwagon Tiny House in Austria (Think “Sound of Music,” not kangaroos!).
Wohnwagon is a fairly new start-up company, but they are eager to work on internationalization, and would be willing to get you a tiny house — somehow! — no matter where you live. They offer customization and awesome off-grid and sustainable options, including using grey water to grow plants on the roof! How amazing 🙂
This particular model features a lovely modern-cottage feel, with navy and white accents, and you can rent it. It’s a fully sustainable “hotel room” for an Austrian vacation.
