This is the SLEDhaus, a pre-fab small home designed as a vacation property that has no loft and can be fully off-grid.

According to SLEDhaus:

The tiny cabins called the SLEDhaus will be built with upgraded features throughout the 572 sq. ft. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom home, with an available expansion option.

Each home is built to IRC code and can be a permanent or temporary housing option that can serve as a retreat location, remote employee housing, or a park home model that can be rented on a nightly basis at any recreational resort.

They haven’t built one yet, but you can enjoy the renderings and watch the builder talk about the structure below! Plus, I included even more details after the last video.

This is a 258 sq. ft. tiny river cabin uniquely designed by Marion Tepp and her husband and originally shared on Small House Bliss.

The spacious outdoor deck allows for living and dining outside when the weather is nice. How amazing to get to have your own waterfront dining anytime, right?

When you go inside the cabin you’ll notice an open living room with a wood burning fireplace and at the other end is your small kitchenette and half bathroom with a composting toilet. Look up from the living area and there’s your rather spacious sleeping loft space thanks to the two dormers. Please enjoy and re-share below.

A cozy vacation cottage tucked away in the woods of Pender Island, British Columbia, Canada. This cottage was restored by the owners who are very crafty with woodworking, stain glass and plastering. They call it the Artwood Cottage.

The cottage has a sleeping loft, open living and dining room, a small kitchen and bathroom with composting toilet.

You can see their creative touches throughout the cottage including earthy textured plastering on the walls.

They’ve replaced the wooden stairs that lead up to the sleeping loft. And check out the custom railing upstairs. Plus the fireplace downstairs seems to be wrapped with natural stone.

Explore the Artwood Cottage below.

Built back in the 1960s, this prefab house still stands strong today. Owner, Jens Risom, a legendary furniture designer, had this small house built on a seven acre plot of land located at the northern tip of Block Island, Rhode Island.

When he had the house built he knew exactly how he wanted it positioned on the lot to allow the most amount of sunlight inside. Risom says his favorite times of day are early morning and late afternoon.

The home is bolted down on a foundation to stay strong during winter winds and rough weather conditions. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sleeping loft, large living and dining area and kitchen.

At age 97, Risom still visits the island. There’s something peaceful about the island. It’s a unique feeling when you are there. Maybe because he has created so many family memories here over time. Now his grandchildren also come to visit the beach home.

Please enjoy and re-share the tour, video and interview below. Thank you.

Using inspiration from a pre-existing 1920s cottage, Architects of Atelier ST designed and built this small cabin south of Berlin, Germany. They use it as a weekend getaway for their own family and friends.

Although the exterior of this wooden cottage is dark the interior is bright and open.

The home has a front door entry that opens up through a hallway lined with pine storage cabinets. Which leads to a brightly white painted two story open living space. The glass wall on the rear of the cabin provides more than plenty of natural light for the weekend retreat.

The kitchen and bathroom are located at the front corners of the home on either side of the hallway. I really love the red mosaic tiled shower. Be sure to check that out. Enjoy the photos below.

Nestled deep within nature and surrounded by a lush man-made pond this totem style cabin is a guest house oasis. Henry Yorke Mann, architect, designed this small cabin for clients who wanted to give their guests an experience they would not forget among the 10-acre property in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia.

Once inside you will notice there is a skylight that runs the length of the home at the peak of the roof. This feature gives so much sunlight inside the wooded cabin.

There is a fireplace that divides the home from the living and dining area in the front half and the kitchen and bathroom in the back corners. With the sleeping loft above.

The owners decided to stay in the cabin a few times and soon discovered they were ready to downsize from their 5,000 sq. ft. home to the 400 sq. ft. Totem cabin.

Check out the inside of this cabin in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia.
