Jono and Taryn are an awesome couple with three girls, ages 8, 6, and 4, who are traveling full-time to see the United States! While they originally toyed with the idea of an RV, they preferred the idea of converting a skoolie that they could customize for their family’s needs.

This is a standard-height bus, with no roof raise, but there are strategic skylights throughout to allow Jono to stand upright in the kitchen, where he’s the chef. The dining room table is one of the coolest features of this home, but you’ll love all the clever and well-designed features.

Seven years ago, Matt was given 3 years to live with a terminal brain cancer diagnosis. He and his wife Christi started to take a hard look at their lifestyle and made the decision to live nomadically with their 6 children. Due to Matt’s treatment and declining health at the time, it took more than four years after buying the bus to have it completed enough to move into it.

Now they’ve been on the road for 9 months — and Matt is still living despite the diagnosis — and they’re so happy about spending this quality time together. They don’t have plans to quit anytime soon! Watch their inspiring tour below.

There’s no chance of this family being caught without power! Dad Derek got the wild idea to move his wife and two young kids into a school bus, and he pulled out all the stops with his brilliantly-designed solar system, fold-down bench seat for safe car seat travel, and large IKEA-mattress-sized bunks for his littles to grow into.

They have a big kitchen with some cool dual-drawers that hide knives from little fingers, and an awesome toy/book drawer. Raising their kids on the road has given them amazing opportunities, and they look forward to “road-schooling” for years to come.

Abe and Micah bought a house in California and flipped it (it was “a dump” according to them) into exactly what they wanted. But then they realized they loved traveling — not being tied to one location — so they sold the house and reinvested some of the money into their raised-roof skoolie home.

They downsized from 2,000 to 200 square feet with their two young boys, and just wait until you see their gorgeous bus! It feels truly homey with a brick backsplash, faux leather couches, and custom bunks for the boys with sliding doors.
