Tim and Aimee are empty-nesters who wanted a way to explore — and visit their kids! They spent lockdown converting a 2019 Ford Transit with no prior building experience.

They chose to prioritize a big, comfortable bed, coffee, and a bathroom in their rig. They have a cool hidden toilet that transforms into an emergency shower when needed. The place feels cozy and functional. Take a look!

Sonja and Jonatan were frustrated with apartment life after needing to hire lawyers when their landlords tried to illegally end their lease. It was time for a change, and just a few weeks later they bought a van and in just 47 days (with no prior experience) created a beautiful home on wheels!

The most remarkable feature of their van is definitely their starry night sky, created by putting lights behind the ceiling beadboard. It looks great in the daytime, but absolutely enchanting come nighttime! Be sure to read our Q&A with them after the photo tour below.

Sami works as a handy woman, and she used her incredible expertise to build out an adventure van for her and her husband. The couple love mountain biking, so they built the entire van around being able to carry their four bicycles in the garage.

But the van is loaded with features, including an amazing transforming hidden bathroom, super cool lighting and a neat rear door open-and-close system that Sami patented and sells on Etsy! Enjoy this cool tour below.

Megan and Lee were moving from California back to the Midwest, considering buying some land and buying a house when they realized they weren’t ready to settle down yet. So they decided to build out a Ford Transit and create their own home on wheels for a while instead.

Lee had family connections to a mill in Pennsylvania and picked out all the lumber in the van from a couple of trees, which they planed and treated and became the inside of their rig. The result is a unique rustic feel that’s perfect for this couple.

Christy and Mike of The Traveling Vuzz were first inspired to get into tiny life when they started their Indie Electronica Duo while traveling Europe. They didn’t want to lose that adventure and decided to convert a van.

Unfortunately, personal tragedy struck midway through their van build, leaving Christy needing time to regroup before they attacked the project again. Eventually, however, the couple found healing in completing the project and sharing their awesome music. Enjoy the tour below.

Jess & Shawn wanted to get into #vanlife to make it easier to chase their rock climbing dreams. It took a bit of convincing for Jess to see herself living in a van, but with the promise of a giant closet and lots of Pinterest inspiration, she got on board.

Their bus features an awesome accent wall made from recycled fencing that hides their bathroom (and toiletry clutter), as well as a 3-burner stove and oven with a strategically-placed faucet that doubles as a pot-filler! Their Murphy bed allows them to easily transform the back of the van from “day mode” to bedtime. What do you think?

Jess is an actress and Josh mixes audio for sets — the long hours and travel were keeping them apart, so during the same year they planned their wedding, the couple converted their 2019 Ford Transit. Now they can pursue work side-by-side based near LA.

Their van has an awesome functional kitchen with a pantry and pull-out trash can, a laundry chute to the “garage” so dirty clothes don’t pile up, and even a monitor and green screen for Jess’s acting auditions! What a cool van and adorable couple.
